We consider pion electroproduction close to threshold for Q2 in the region 1–10 GeV2 on a nucleon target. The momentum transfer dependence of the S-wave multipoles at threshold, E0+ and L0+, is calculated in the chiral limit using light-cone sum rules. Predictions for the cross sections in the threshold region, both for π0p and π+n channels, are given that include P-wave contributions that, as we argue, are model independent to a large extent. The results are compared with the SLAC E136 data on the structure function F2(W,Q2) in the threshold region.

We compute NRQCD long-distance matrix elements that appear in the inclusive production cross sections of P-wave heavy quarkonia in the framework of potential NRQCD. The formalism developed in this work applies to strongly coupled charmonia and bottomonia. This makes possible the determination of color-octet NRQCD long-distance matrix elements without relying on measured cross section data, which has not been possible so far. We obtain results for inclusive production cross sections of χcJ and χbJ at the LHC, which are in good agreement with measurements.

AbstractIn the present work, the form factors of $$B_{(s)}$$ B ( s ) to light P-wave tensor mesons ($$a_2(1320)$$ a 2 ( 1320 ) , $$K^*_2(1430)$$ K 2 ∗ ( 1430 ) , $$f_2(1270)$$ f 2 ( 1270 ) , $$f^\prime _2(1525)$$ f 2 ′ ( 1525 ) ) are calculated via the light cone sum rules (LCSR) in the framework of heavy quark effective field theory (HQEFT). Firstly, the expressions of form factors in terms of the light cone distribution amplitudes (DAs) of tensor mesons are derived via the LCSR at the leading order of heavy quark expansion. It is found that the penguin type form factors can be obtained directly from the corresponding semileptonic ones, which is similar to the case of S-wave mesons. Considering the light tensor meson DAs to twist-3, we give the numerical results of form factors systematically. As applications, we investigate the branching ratios, longitudinal polarization fractions and forward-backward asymmetries of relevant semileptonic decays induced by charged current and flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) separately. Our results may be tested by more precise experiments in the future.

Abstract We use the method of light-cone sum rules to study decay properties of P-wave bottom baryons belonging to the SU(3) flavor $$\mathbf {6}_F$$6F representation. In Cui et al. (Phys Rev D 99:094021, 2019) we have studied their mass spectrum and pionic decays, and found that the $$\varSigma _{b}(6097)$$Σb(6097) and $$\varXi _{b}(6227)$$Ξb(6227) can be well interpreted as P-wave bottom baryons of $$J^P = 3/2^-$$JP=3/2-. In this paper we further study their decays into ground-state bottom baryons and vector mesons. We propose to search for a new state $$\varXi _b({5/2}^-)$$Ξb(5/2-), that is the $$J^P = 5/2^-$$JP=5/2- partner state of the $$\varXi _{b}(6227)$$Ξb(6227), in the $$\varXi _b({5/2}^-) \rightarrow \varXi _b^{*}\rho \rightarrow \varXi _b^{*}\pi \pi $$Ξb(5/2-)→Ξb∗ρ→Ξb∗ππ decay process. Its mass is $$12 \pm 5$$12±5 MeV larger than that of the $$\varXi _{b}(6227)$$Ξb(6227).
