At zero temperature and finite chemical potential, the gap equation of cold dense quark matter under external magnetic field is studied with NJL model in the mean-field approximation. By introducing new methods, it is found that the Nambu phase has sophisticated structures which have not been studied before. As a consequence, the phase diagram is expanded and divided into five areas, in each area the condensate has unique behaviors with chemical potential varying. Furthermore, the expanded phase diagram is used to predict the order of phase transition between the Nambu phase and the Wigner phase, it can also be used to explain the relations of dynamical mass and chemical potential. Meanwhile, the metastable states and cascade effect of dynamical mass are studied in this paper.

The critical behaviour of the ferromagnetic spin-3/2 Blume-Emery-Griffiths model with repulsive biquadratic coupling in the absence and presence of an external magnetic field is studied by using the lowest approximation of the cluster variation method, which is identical with the mean-field approximation. Thermal variations of the order parameters are investigated for different values of the interaction parameters and the external magnetic field. The complete phase diagrams of the system are calculated in the (kT/J,K/J), (kT/J,D/J) and (kT /J,H/J) planes. Five new phase diagram topologies are obtained, which are either absent from previous approaches or have gone unnoticed. A detailed discussion and comparison of the phase diagrams is made.

The combined effect of an imposed rotation and magnetic field on convective transfer in a horizontal Boussinesq layer of fluid heated from below is studied in the mean field approximation. The basic equations are derived by a variational technique and their solutions are then found over a wide range of conditions, in the case of free boundaries, by numerical and analytic techniques, in particular by asymptotic and perturbation methods. The results obtained by the different techniques are shown to be in excellent agreement. As for the linear theory, the calculations predict that the simultaneous presence' of a magnetic field and rotation may produce conflicting tendencies.

We have theoretically investigated the particle orientational distribution and viscosity of a dense colloidal dispersion composed of ferromagnetic spherocylinder particles under circumstances of an applied magnetic field. The mean field approximation has been applied to take into account the magnetic interactions of the particle of interest with the other ones which belong to the neighboring clusters, besides its own cluster. The basic equation of the orientational distribution function, which is an integro-differential equation, has approximately been solved by Galerkin’s method and the method of successive approximation. Even when the magnetic interaction between particles is of the order of the thermal energy, the effect of particle-particle interactions on the orientational distribution comes to appear more significantly with increasing the volumetric fraction of particles. This effect comes to appear more significantly when the influence of the applied magnetic field is not relatively so strong compared with magnetic particle-particle interactions.

A model for the description of two-subsystem Heisenberg ferrimagnet with frustrated intersubsystem exchange and competition between exchange interactions in a subsystem is proposed. The conditions of the existence of noncollinear Yafet-Kittel state and partially ordered magnetic structure are investigated. The phase diagram of competition parameter vs temperature is obtained in the mean field approximation. The peculiarities of the succesive magnetic phase transitions are considered.

Asymmetric exclusion processes (ASEP) on lattices with a junction, in which two or more parallel lattice branches combine into a single one, is important as a model for complex transport phenomena. This paper investigates the effect of unequal injection rates in ASEP with a junction. It is a generalization of the work of Pronina and Kolomeisky [J. Stat. Mech. P07010 (2005)], in which only equal injection rates are considered. It is shown that the unequal rates give rise to new phases and the phase diagram structure is qualitatively changed. The phase diagram and the density profiles are investigated by using Monte Carlo simulations, mean field approximation and domain wall approach. The analytical results are in good agreement with Monte Carlo simulations.

The superradiant emission is considered for a radiating system constituted by N dressed spin-1/2 magnetic dipoles, described by a nonlinear single particle Hamiltonian that is derived under a mean field approximation. This Hamiltonian describes adequately the transient regime of the emission process: The intensity of the radiation follows the sech2 law and its peak is proportional to N2. Then, one considers the application of a periodic time-dependent transverse magnetic field and we study the behavior of the emission that becomes periodically pulsed.
