In the Standard Model the electroweak coupling of the gauge bosons to leptons is independent of the lepton flavour. Semileptonic and rare decays of b quarks provide an ideal laboratory to test this property. Any violation of Lepton Flavour Universality would be a clear sign of physics beyond the Standard Model. In this work a review of the Lepton Flavour Universality tests performed using data collected by the LHCb experiment in 2011 and 2012 at a centre of mass energy of 7 and 8 TeV is presented.

Interactions of the technidilaton with fermions and gauge bosons are obtained by constructing a low energy effective Lagrangian and using the fact that the technidilaton couples to the trace of the energy-momentum tensor Θµµ. Technidilaton’s interactions are compared with those of the Higgs bosons of the Standard Model with one or two scalar doublets.

The Standard Model

Recent searches for physics beyond the Standard Model at high energy colliders are presented. The main focus is on searches for supersymmetry, extra dimensions and new gauge bosons. In all search analyses the data are found to agree well with the Standard Model background expectation and no evidence for contributions from physics beyond the Standard Model is found. The data are thus used to place limits on new physics scenarios.

We review the effects of new effective interactions on Higgs-boson phenomenology. New physics in the electroweak bosonic sector is expected to induce additional interactions between the Higgs doublet field and the electroweak gauge bosons, leading to anomalous Higgs couplings as well as anomalous gauge-boson self-interactions. Using a linearly realized SU (2)L× U (1)Y invariant effective Lagrangian to describe the bosonic sector of the Standard Model, we review the effects of the new effective interactions on the Higgs-boson production rates and decay modes. We summarize the results from searches for the new Higgs signatures induced by the anomalous interactions in order to constrain the scale of new physics, in particular at CERN LEP and Fermilab Tevatron colliders.

Abstract The signals of the $$SO(5)\times U(1)$$SO(5)×U(1) gauge-Higgs unification model at the International Linear Collider are studied. In this model, Kaluza–Klein modes of the neutral gauge bosons affect fermion pair productions. The deviations of the forward–backward asymmetries of the $$e^+e^-\rightarrow \bar{b}b$$e+e-→b¯b, $$\bar{t}t$$t¯t processes from the standard model predictions are clearly seen by using polarised beams. The deviations of these values are predicted for two cases, the bulk mass parameters of quarks are positive and negative case.

There are serious discussions for building a muon collider with μ+μ- collisions at c.o.m. energies up to 4 TeV. We point out that the bileptonic gauge bosons predicted in some extensions of the standard model would be readily discernable from the backward scattering cross-section, for bilepton masses up to a substantial fraction of the c.o.m. energy.

We consider extensions of the Standard Model based on open strings ending on D-branes, with gauge bosons due to strings attached to stacks of D-branes and chiral matter due to strings stretching between intersecting D-branes. Assuming that the fundamental string mass scale is in the TeV range and the theory is weakly coupled, we discuss possible signals of string physics at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

Abstract A generalized theory of electroweak interaction is developed based on the underlying geometrical structure of the tangent bundle with symmetries arising from transformations of tangent vectors along the fiber axis at a fixed spacetime point given by the SO(3,1) group. Electroweak interaction beyond the standard model (SM) is described by the little groups $$ SU(2)\otimes E^{c}(2)$$SU(2)⊗Ec(2) ($$E^{c}(2)$$Ec(2) is the central extended Euclidian group) which includes the group $$SU(2)\otimes U(1)$$SU(2)⊗U(1) as a limit case. In addition to isospin and hypercharge, two additional quantum numbers arise which explain the existence of families in the SM. The connection coefficients yield the SM gauge potentials but also hypothetical gauge bosons and other hypothetical particles as a Higgs family as well as candidate Dark Matter particles are predicted. Several important consequences for the interaction between dark fermions, dark scalars or dark vector gauge bosons with each other and with SM Higgs and Z-bosons are described.

The linearization of the nonlinear standard model G/H= SU(3) L × U(1)/SU(2) L × U(1) via the hidden local symmetry H loc = SU(2) L × U(1) is considered. Mixing of the light elementary gauge bosons of the standard model with the dynamically generated heavy composite vector bosons is studied under the hypothesis of vector boson dominance. The model is theoretically consistent as quantum field theory and phenomenologically acceptable. It can be used as a guide to study systematically the deviations from the standard model due to a common substructure of leptons, quarks and Higgs bosons.
