In this talk I discuss the problem of accounting for light neutrino masses in theories with dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking. I will first describe this problem generally in a class of extended technicolor (ETC) models, describing the full set of Dirac and Majorana masses that arise in such theories. I will then present an explicit model exhibiting a combination of suppressed Dirac masses and a seesaw involving dynamically generated condensates of standard-model singlet, ETC-nonsinglet fermions. Because of the suppression of the Dirac neutrino mass terms, a seesaw yielding realistic neutrino masses does not require superheavy Majorana masses; indeed, the Majorana masses are typically much smaller than the largest ETC scale.

We study neutrino physics in the context of the localized gravity model with non-factorizable metric proposed by Randall and Sundrum. Identifying the right-handed neutrino with a bulk fermion zero mode, which can be localized on the "hidden" 3-brane in the Randall-Sundrum model, we obtain naturally small Dirac neutrino masses with-out invoking a see-saw mechanism. Our model predicts a strong hierarchy of neutrino masses and generically large mixing angles.

We compute the effect of nondiagonal neutrino mass inli→ljγin Supersymmetry (SUSY) theories with nontrivial quark-lepton complementarity and a flavor symmetry. The correlation matrixVM=UCKMUPMNSis such that its (1,3) entry, as preferred by the present experimental data, is zero. We do not assume thatVMis bimaximal. Quark-lepton complementarity and the flavor symmetry strongly constrain the theory and we obtain a clear prediction for the contribution toμ→eγand theτdecaysτ→eγandτ→μγ. If the Dirac neutrino Yukawa couplings are degenerate but the low-energy neutrino masses are not degenerate, then the lepton decays are related among them by theVMentries. On the other hand, if the Dirac neutrino Yukawa couplings are hierarchical or the low-energy neutrino masses are degenerate, then the prediction for the lepton decays comes from theUCKMhierarchy.

Abstract In the context of $$SU(3)_C \times SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y \times U(1)_\chi $$SU(3)C×SU(2)L×U(1)Y×U(1)χ, where $$U(1)_\chi $$U(1)χ comes from $$SO(10) \rightarrow SU(5) \times U(1)_\chi $$SO(10)→SU(5)×U(1)χ, supplemented by the non-Abelian discrete $$\Delta (27)$$Δ(27) symmetry for three lepton families, Dirac neutrino masses and their mixing are radiatively generated through dark matter. The gauge $$U(1)_\chi $$U(1)χ symmetry is broken spontaneously. The discrete $$\Delta (27)$$Δ(27) symmetry is broken softly and spontaneously. Together, they result in two residual symmetries, a global $$U(1)_L$$U(1)L lepton number and a dark symmetry, which may be $$Z_2$$Z2, $$Z_3$$Z3, or $$U(1)_D$$U(1)D depending on what scalar breaks $$U(1)_\chi $$U(1)χ. Cobimaximal neutrino mixing, i.e. $$\theta _{13} \ne 0$$θ13≠0, $$\theta _{23} = \pi /4$$θ23=π/4, and $$\delta _{CP} = \pm \pi /2$$δCP=±π/2, may also be obtained.
