We discuss the constraint on the size of QCD instanton effects in low-energy effective theory. Among various instanton effects in meson mass spectrum and dynamics, we concentrate on the instanton-induced masses of light quarks. The famous instanton-induced six-quark interaction, so-called ’t Hooft vertex, could give nonperturbative quantum corrections to light quark masses. Many works have already been achieved to constrain the mass corrections in light meson system, or the system of [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], and now we know for a fact that the instanton-induced mass of up-quark is too small to realize the solution of the strong CP problem by vanishing current mass of up-quark. In this work, we give a constraint on the instanton-induced mass correction to light quarks from the mass spectrum of heavy mesons, [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] and their antiparticles. To accomplish this, the complete second-order chiral symmetry breaking terms are identified in heavy meson effective theory. We find that the strength of the constraint from heavy meson masses is at the same level of that from light mesons, and it would be made even stronger by more precise data from future [Formula: see text] factories and lattice calculations.

Large-basis O(g) static cavity wavefunctions, containing bremsstrahlung and quark-sea states, previously fitted to the light quark meson sector, are applied to the ground-state meson spectrum in general. The only parameters of the model in the heavy quark sector are the quark masses me and mb which we fit to D and B states. Predictions for the meson mass spectrum are given and are found to be a significant improvement over the predictions of the original. MIT model.

Abstract Elastic scattering amplitudes for I = 0 DK and I = 0, 1 $$ D\overline{K} $$ D K ¯ are computed in S, P and D partial waves using lattice QCD with light-quark masses corresponding to mπ = 239 MeV and mπ = 391 MeV. The S-waves contain interesting features including a near-threshold JP = 0+ bound state in I = 0 DK, corresponding to the $$ {D}_{s0}^{\ast } $$ D s 0 ∗ (2317), with an effect that is clearly visible above threshold, and suggestions of a 0+ virtual bound state in I = 0 $$ D\overline{K} $$ D K ¯ . The S-wave I = 1 $$ D\overline{K} $$ D K ¯ amplitude is found to be weakly repulsive. The computed finite-volume spectra also contain a deeply-bound D* vector resonance, but negligibly small P -wave DK interactions are observed in the energy region considered; the P and D-wave $$ D\overline{K} $$ D K ¯ amplitudes are also small. There is some evidence of 1+ and 2+ resonances in I = 0 DK at higher energies.
