Abstract The field-theoretical methods are used to construct conserved currents and related superpotentials for perturbations on arbitrary backgrounds in the Lovelock gravity. The perturbations are considered as a dynamic field configuration propagating in a given spacetime. The field-theoretical formalism is exact (without approximations) and equivalent to the original metric theory. As Lagrangian based formalism, it allows us to apply the Noether theorem. As a result, we construct conserved currents and superpotentials, where we use arbitrary displacement vectors, not only the Killing ones or other special vectors. The developed formalism is checked in calculating mass of the Schwarzschild-anti-de Sitter (AdS) black hole. The new formalism is adopted to the case of a so-called pure Lovelock gravity, where in the Lagrangian only a one polynomial in Riemannian tensor presents. We construct conserved charges and currents for static and dynamic black holes of the Vaidya type with AdS, dS and flat asymptotics. New properties of the solutions under consideration have been found. The more results are discussed. The first section in your paper

Abstract In this work it is shown that the thermodynamics of regular black holes with a cosmological horizon, which are solutions of Lovelock gravity, determines that they must evolve either into a state where the black hole and cosmological horizons have reached thermal equilibrium or into an extreme black hole geometry where the black hole and cosmological horizons have merged. This differs from the behavior of Schwarzschild de Sitter geometry which evolves into a de Sitter space, the ground state of the space of solutions. This occurs due to a phase transition of the heat capacity of the black hole horizon. To perform that analysis it is shown that at each horizon a local first law of thermodynamics can be obtained from the gravitational equations.

We present the generalization of a known theorem to generate static, spherically symmetric black hole solutions in higher-dimensional Lovelock gravity. Particular limits such as Gauss–Bonnet (GB) and Einstein–Hilbert (EH) in any dimension N yield all the solutions known to date with an energy–momentum. In our generalization, with special emphasis on third order Lovelock gravity, we have found two different class of solutions characterized by the matter field parameter. Several particular cases are studied and properties related to asymptotic behaviors are discussed. Our general solution, which covers topological black holes as well, splits naturally into distinct classes such as Chern–Simon (CS) and Born–Infeld (BI) in higher-dimensions. The occurence of naked singularities is studied and it is found that the space–time behaves nonsingularly in the quantum-mechanical sense when it is probed with quantum test particles. The theorem is extended to cover Bertotti–Robinson (BR) type solutions in the presence of the GB parameter alone. Finally, we prove also that extension of the theorem for a scalar–tensor source of higher dimensions (N > 4) fails to work.

Black Hole Solutions

In this article, we review two black hole solutions to the five-dimensional Lovelock gravity. These solutions are characterized by the non-vanishing torsion and the peculiar property that all their conserved charges vanish. The first solution is a spherically symmetric black hole with torsion, which also has zero entropy in the semiclassical approximation. The second solution is a black ring, which is the five-dimensional uplift of the BTZ black hole with torsion in three dimensions.
