The fragmentation functions of D0, D±, [Formula: see text], D*o, D*± and [Formula: see text] at [Formula: see text] are measured with a data set of 102.7 fb-1. Fragmentation model parametrizations (Peterson, Kartvelishvili, Collins-Spiller, Lund, and Bowler models) are compared to the data. The data at high x≃1 indicate a contribution of non-perturbative QCD processes.

Model Predictions

Using perturbative QCD within the framework of Szczepaniak et al. (1990), we analyse different non-leptonic B decays, namely B → Π Π , B → Π (K)D, B → DD, as heavy-to-light transitions dominated by tree diagrams and compare our estimates to experimental data and other theoretical model predictions.

In this paper, we propose a general approach for describing hadronic B decays. Using this method, all amplitudes for such decays can be expressed in terms of contractions, though the matrix elements are not evaluated. Many years ago, Buras and Silvestrini proposed a similar approach. However, our technique goes beyond theirs in several ways. First, we include recent theoretical and experimental developments which indicate which contractions are negligible, and which are expected to be smaller than others. Second, we show that all B-decay diagrams can be simply expressed in terms of contractions. This constitutes a formal proof that the diagrammatic method is rigorous. Third, we show that one reproduces the relations between tree and electroweak-penguin diagrams described by Neubert and Rosner, and by Gronau, Pirjol and Yan. Fourth, although the previous results hold to all orders in αs, we show that it is also possible to work order-by-order in this approach. In this way it is possible to make a connection with the matrix-element evaluation methods of QCD factorization (QCDfac) and perturbative QCD (pQCD). Finally, using the contractions approach, we reevaluate the question of whether there is a "B → πK puzzle." At [Formula: see text], we find that the diagram ratio |C′/T′| is about 0.17, a factor of 10 too small to explain all the B → πK data. Both QCDfac and pQCD find that, at [Formula: see text], the value of |C′/T′| may be raised to only about 2–3 times its lowest-order value. We therefore conclude that, assuming the effect is not a statistical fluctuation, it is likely that the value of |C′/T′| is similar to its [Formula: see text] result, and that there really is a B → πK puzzle.

The perturbative QCD approach is based on kT factorization, including the Sudakov form factors so that to avoid the endpoint singularity. In this approach, we calculate the charmless B decays like B → ππ decays etc. to produce the right number of branching ratios and also CP asymmetry parameters. For final states with at least one charmed meson, like B → Dπ decays, our results also agree with the experiments.

AbstractThe anomalies in rare B decays endure. We present results of an updated global analysis that takes into account the latest experimental input – in particular the recent results on $$R_K$$ R K and BR$$(B_s \rightarrow \mu ^+\mu ^-)$$ ( B s → μ + μ - ) – and that qualitatively improves the treatment of theory uncertainties. Fit results are presented for the Wilson coefficients of four-fermion contact interactions. We find that muon specific Wilson coefficients $$C_9 \simeq -0.73$$ C 9 ≃ - 0.73 or $$C_9 = -C_{10} \simeq -0.39$$ C 9 = - C 10 ≃ - 0.39 continue to give an excellent description of the data. If only theoretically clean observables are considered, muon specific $$C_{10} \simeq 0.60$$ C 10 ≃ 0.60 or $$C_9=-C_{10} \simeq -0.35$$ C 9 = - C 10 ≃ - 0.35 improve over the Standard Model by $$\sqrt{\Delta \chi ^2} \simeq 4.7\sigma $$ Δ χ 2 ≃ 4.7 σ and $$\sqrt{\Delta \chi ^2} \simeq 4.6\sigma $$ Δ χ 2 ≃ 4.6 σ , respectively. In various new physics scenarios we provide predictions for lepton flavor universality observables and CP asymmetries that can be tested with more data. We update our previous combination of ATLAS, CMS, and LHCb data on BR$$(B_s \rightarrow \mu ^+\mu ^-)$$ ( B s → μ + μ - ) and BR$$(B^0\rightarrow \mu ^+\mu ^-)$$ ( B 0 → μ + μ - ) taking into account the full two-dimensional non-Gaussian experimental likelihoods.

We review the perturbative QCD approach study of hadronic B decays. Utilizing the constrained parameters in these well measured decay channels, we study most of the possible charmless Bs → PP, PV and VV decay channels in the perturbative QCD approach. In addition to the branching ratios and CP asymmetries, we also give predictions to the polarization fractions of the vector meson final states. The size of SU (3) breaking effect is also discussed. These predictions can be tested by the future LHCb experiment.
