Impact of quark quasiparticles on transport coefficients in hot QCD

We consider transport properties of the hypernuclear matter in neutron star cores. In particular, we calculate the thermal conductivity, the shear viscosity, and the momentum transfer rates for npΣ−Λeμ composition of dense matter in β–equilibrium for baryon number densities in the range 0.1–1 fm−3. The calculations are based on baryon interactions treated within the framework of the non-relativistic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock theory. Bare nucleon-nucleon (NN) interactions are described by the Argonne v18 phenomenological potential supplemented with the Urbana IX three-nucleon force. Nucleon-hyperon (NY) and hyperon-hyperon (YY) interactions are based on the NSC97e and NSC97a models of the Nijmegen group. We find that the baryon contribution to transport coefficients is dominated by the neutron one as in the case of neutron star cores containing only nucleons. In particular, we find that neutrons dominate the total thermal conductivity over the whole range of densities explored and that, due to the onset of Σ− which leads to the deleptonization of the neutron star core, they dominate also the shear viscosity in the high density region, in contrast with the pure nucleonic case where the lepton contribution is always the dominant one.

Abstract We investigate the time-dependent perturbations of strongly coupled $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 4 SYM theory at finite temperature and finite chemical potential with a second order phase transition. This theory is modelled by a top-down Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton description which is a consistent truncation of the dimensional reduction of type IIB string theory on AdS5×S5. We focus on spin-1 and spin-2 sectors of perturbations and compute the linearized hydrodynamic transport coefficients up to the third order in gradient expansion. We also determine the radius of convergence of the hydrodynamic mode in spin-1 sector and the lowest non-hydrodynamic modes in spin-2 sector. Analytically, we find that all the hydrodynamic quantities have the same critical exponent near the critical point θ = $$ \frac{1}{2} $$ 1 2 . Moreover, we propose a relation between symmetry enhancement of the underlying theory and vanishing of the only third order hydrodynamic transport coefficient θ1, which appears in the shear dispersion relation of a conformal theory on a flat background.

Abstract In this paper we study the Wiedemann-Franz laws for transport in 2+1 dimensions, and the action of Sl(2, ℤ) on this transport, for theories with an AdS/CMT dual. We find that Sl(2, ℤ) restricts the RG-like flow of conductivities and that the Wiedemann-Franz law is $$ \overline{L}=\overline{\kappa}/\left( T\sigma \right)={cg}_4^2\uppi /3 $$ L ¯ = κ ¯ / Tσ = cg 4 2 π / 3 , from the weakly coupled gravity dual. In a self-dual theory this value is also the value of L = κ/(Tσ) in the weakly coupled field theory description. Using the formalism of a 0+1 dimensional effective action for both generalized SY Kq models and the AdS4 gravity dual, we calculate the transport coefficients and show how they can be matched at large q. We construct a generalization of this effective action that is invariant under Sl(2, ℤ) and can describe vortex conduction and integer quantum Hall effect.
