The mixed-spin Ising model on a decorated square lattice with two different decorating spins of integer magnitudes S B = 1 and S C = 2 placed on horizontal and vertical bonds of the lattice, respectively, is examined within an exact analytical approach based on the generalized decoration–iteration mapping transformation. Besides the ground-state analysis, finite-temperature properties of the system are investigated in detail. The most interesting numerical result to emerge from our study relates to a striking critical behavior of the spontaneously ordered "quasi-1D" spin system. It was found that this quite remarkable spontaneous order arises when one sublattice of the decorating spins (either S B or S C ) tends toward their "nonmagnetic" spin state S = 0, and the system becomes disordered only upon further single-ion anisotropy strengthening. In particular, the effect of single-ion anisotropy upon the temperature dependence of the total and sublattice magnetization is investigated.

The ground-state phase diagrams are obtained for the spin-2 Ising model Hamiltonian with bilinear and biquadratic exchange interactions and a single-ion crystal field. The interactions are assumed to be only between nearest-neighbors. Obtained phase diagrams are presented in the (Δ,J), (K,J), (Δ/J,K/J), (Δ/|J|,K/|J|), (Δ/|K|,J/|K|), (H/J,Δ/J), (H/|J|,Δ/|J|), (H/J,K/J), and (H/|J|,K/|J|) planes where J, K, Δ, and H are the bilinear, biquadratic exchange interactions, the single-ion crystal field, and the external magnetic field, respectively. The influence of the external magnetic field on the spin configurations is investigated.

The quantum phase transition of a one-dimensional transverse field Ising model in an imaginary longitudinal field is studied. A new order parameter M is introduced to describe the critical behaviors in the Yang-Lee edge singularity (YLES). The M does not diverge at the YLES point, a behavior different from other usual parameters. We term this unusual critical behavior around YLES as the pseudo-YLES. To investigate the static and driven dynamics of M, the (1+1) dimensional ferromagnetic-paramagnetic phase transition ((1+1) D FPPT) critical region, (0+1) D YLES critical region and the (1+1) D YLES critical region of the model are selected. Our numerical study shows that the (1+1) D FPPT scaling theory, the (0+1) D YLES scaling theory and (1+1) D YLES scaling theory are applicable to describe the critical behaviors of M, demonstrating that M could be a good indicator to detect the phase transition around YLES. Since M has finite value around YLES, it is expected that M could be quantitatively measured in experiments.
