AbstractWe consider transport properties of a hybrid device composed by a quantum dot placed between normal and superconducting reservoirs, and coupled to a Majorana nanowire: a topological superconducting segment hosting Majorana bound states (MBSs) at the opposite ends. It is demonstrated that if highly nonlocal and nonoverlapping MBSs are formed in the system, the zero-bias Andreev conductance through the dot exhibits characteristic isoconductance profiles with the shape depending on the spin asymmetry of the coupling between the dot and the topological superconductor. Otherwise, for overlapping MBSs with less degree of nonlocality, the conductance is insensitive to the spin polarization and the isoconductance signatures disappear. This allows to propose an alternative experimental protocol for probing the nonlocality of the MBSs in Majorana nanowires.

We consider the interlayer pair-tunneling model for layered cuprates, including an effective single particle hopping along the c-axis. A phenomenological suppression of the c-axis hopping matrix element, by the pseudogap in cuprate superconductors, is incorporated. At optimal doping, quantities characteristic to the superconducting state, such as the transition temperature and the superconducting gap are calculated. Results from our calculations are consistent with the experimental observations with the noteworthy point that, the superconducting gap as a function of temperature shows excellent match to the experimental data. Predictions within the model, regarding T c variation with interlayer coupling, are natural outcomes which could be tested further.

The relation between thed-wave superconducting gapΔ0and the specific heat obtained with the Volovik effect is used to determine the upper critical fieldHc2as doping function, for high-temperature superconductors. A two-components model withd-wave symmetry, within the BCS framework, is introduced to describe the superconducting state. Generalized Fermi surface topologies are used in order to increase the density of states at the Fermi level, allowing the high-Tcvalues observed. The electron-phonon interaction is considered the most relevant mechanism for the high-Tccuprates, where the available phonon energy is provided by the half-breathing modes. The energy gap valuesΔ0calculated with this model are introduced to describe the variation of the upper critical fieldHc2as function of doping, forLa2-xSrxCuO4.
