Abstract Using an approximate expression based on the Fermi-Amaldi statistical model of the atom, the repulsive interaction energies U{R) between a pair of nenutral rare-gas atoms have been derived. This paper contains a comparison of our numerical results for some repulsive interaction potentials between rare-gas atoms with the corresponding TFD results obtained by Abrahamson. This paper concerns a derivation of the theoretical expression for a repulsive interaction potential
