ABSTRACTCholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (Cyp7a1) participates in lipid metabolism of liver, and its pathway involves catabolism of cholesterol to bile acids and excretion from the body. However, little is known about the effect of the polymorphisms of CYP7A1 gene on duck lipid traits. In the present study, seven novel synonymous mutations loci in exon 2 and exon 3 of CYP7A1 gene in Cherry Valley ducks were identified using PCR production direct sequencing. One novel SNP g.1033130 C>T was predicted in exon 2. Six novel SNPs g.1034076 C>T, g.1034334 G>A, g.1034373 G>A, g.1034448 T>C, g.1034541 C>G, and g.1034550 G>A were discovered in exon 3. Six haplotypes were detected using SHEsis online analysis software, and five loci (g.1034334G>A, g.1034373G>A, g.1034448T>C, g.1034541C>G, and g.1034550G>A) were in complete linkage disequilibrium, and as a block named Locus C3. By single SNP association analysis, we found that the g.1033130 C>T locus was significantly associated with IMF, AFP, TG, and TC (P<0.01 or P<0.05) respectively, the g.1034076 C>T locus was significantly associated with AFP (P<0.05), and the locus C3 was significantly associated with TCH (P<0.05). Sixteen dipoltypes were detected by the combination of haplotypes, and demonstrated strong association with IMF, AFP, TG, and TCH (P<0.01). Therefore, our data suggested that the seven SNPs of CYP7A1 gene are potential markers for lipid homeostasis, and may be used for early breeding and selection of duck.

This study was conducted to evaluate SSTR1 gene polymorphisms and their association with growth traits in Hulun Buir sheep. We followed 233 Hulun Buir sheep from birth to 16 months of age, born in the same pasture and on the same year under a consistent grazing conditions. The body weight (BW), body height (BH), body length (BL), chest circumference (ChC), chest depth (ChD), chest width (ChW), hip width (HW), and cannon circumference (CaC) were measured and recorded at birth, 4 months, 9 months, and 16 months of age. The polymorphisms of the SSTR1 gene in Hulun Buir sheep were excavated using exon sequencing, and association analyses of between SNPs and growth traits at each growth stage were conducted. The results showed that there were four SNPs in Exon 2 of the SSTR1 gene, SNP1, SNP2, and SNP3 were low mutation sites, and SNP4 was a moderate mutation site. Four SNPs were consistent with Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium, and all of them were synonymous mutations. The association analyses found that the genotypes of SNP2 were significantly associated with WW and BH at 4 months of age, BW, BL, ChC, and HW at 9 months of age (p < 0.05), and extremely significantly associated with ChD at 4 and 9 months of age (p < 0.01). There were significant associations between SNP3 and BH at 9 months of age, between SNP4 and ChD, ChW, and CaC at 9 months of age, and BW and ChC at 16 months of age (p < 0.05). There were no detectable associations with growth traits among the seven haplotypes between the SNP1, 3, and 4 of a strong linkage disequilibrium (p > 0.05). These results indicated that SNP2, SNP3, and SNP4 may be used as molecular markers for growth traits of Hulun Buir sheep.

The one of  genes that play an important role in the body metabolism that is closely related to productivity is the Leptin gene. This study aims to determine the assosiation polymorphism of exon 2 Leptin  gene  based on Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) with birth weight of Balinese cattle. This study used 47  DNA of Balinese cattle, their  birth weight (BW), average daily gain (ADG) and yearling weight (YW) data, that were obtained from BPTU HPT Pulukan Bali. The isolation of DNA using a high salt concentrated method and DNA target was duplicated by  PCR machine. Analysis genetic mutation of Leptin genes was performed by evaluating SNP in Exon 2 at R25C  and R25H, from direct sequencing results, using Bioedit and MEGA 5.2 program. The association of Leptin gene polymorphism with BW, ADG and YW were  analyzed using variance analysis. The result showed that there were For genotypes based on SNP R25C and R25H, ie CC, CT, CA, and AA. There were  no assosiation between Leptin gene polymorphism with birth weight (BW), average daily gain (ADG) and yearling weight (YW) on Balinese cattle.

Abstract This research aims to produce science teaching materials in junior level with Energy in The Body as the theme using Four Steps Teaching Material Development  (4STMD). The material is presented in an integrated way so that students can  think holistically and contextually. The method used in this study is Research and Development. In this R&D methods is used 4STMD. There are four steps done on the development of teaching materials, the selection step, structuring step, characterization, and didactic reduction. Selection step includes the selection of indicators in accordance with the demands of the curriculum which is then developed with the selection of concepts and values that are integrated with the concept of science. Structuring step includes make macro structures, concept maps, and multiple representations. Characterization's step includes preparation instruments, then  trial to students to identify difficult concepts. The last, didactic reduction was done by neglect and the annotations in the form of sketches.The test results readability aspect instructional materials lead to the conclusion that by determining the main idea, the legibility of teaching materials reached 67%, with moderate readability criteria. Test results of feasibility aspects based on the results of questionnaires to the 11 teachers lead to the conclusion that the overall, level of eligibility teaching materials reached 91% with the eligibility criteria well. Keywords: teaching materials; energy; 4STMD Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar IPA SMP pada tema Energi dalam Tubuh menggunakan metode Four Steps Teaching Material Development (4STMD). Materi disajikan secara terpadu sehingga memacu siswa untuk berpikir secara holistik dan kontekstual. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian dan pengembangan. Dalam penelitian dan pengembangan yang ini, digunakan metode Four Steps Teaching Material Development (4STMD). Terdapat empat tahap yang dilakukan pada pengembangan bahan ajar, yakni tahap seleksi, strukturisasi, karakterisasi, dan reduksi didaktik. Tahap seleksi meliputi pemilihan indikator yang sesuai dengan tuntutan kurikulum yang kemudian dikembangkan dengan pemilihan konsep dan nilai yang diintegrasikan dengan konsep IPA. Tahap strukturisasi meliputi pembuatan struktur makro, peta konsep, dan multipel representasi dari materi. Tahap karakterisasi meliputi penyusunan instrumen karakterisasi, kemudian uji coba kepada siswa untuk mengidentifikasi konsep sulit. Tahap terakhir, yaitu reduksi didaktik konsep terhadap konsep sulit. Reduksi didaktik yang dilakukan berupa pengabaian dan penggunaan penjelasan berupa sketsa. Hasil uji aspek keterbacaan bahan ajar menghasilkan kesimpulan bahwa berdasarkan penentuan ide pokok, keterbacaan bahan ajar mencapai 67%, dengan kriteria keterbacaan tinggi. Hasil uji aspek kelayakan berdasarkan hasil angket terhadap 11 orang guru menghasilkan kesimpulan bahwa secara keseluruhan tingkat kelayakan bahan ajar mencapai 91% dengan kriteria kelayakan baik sekali. We introduce a method that permits to co-evolve the body and the control properties of robots. It can be used to adapt the morphological traits of robots with a hand-designed morphological bauplan or to evolve the morphological bauplan as well. Our results indicate that robots with co-adapted body and control traits outperform robots with fixed hand-designed morphologies. Interestingly, the advantage is not due to the selection of better morphologies but rather to the mutual scaffolding process that results from the possibility to co-adapt the morphological traits to the control traits and vice versa. Our results also demonstrate that morphological variations do not necessarily have destructive effects on robots’ skills.

Ascidians are marine sessile chordates that comprise one of the major benthic animal groups in marine ecosystems. They sometimes cause biofouling problems on artificial structures underwater, and non-indigenous, invasive ascidian species can potentially and seriously alter native faunal communities. Ascidian larvae are usually tadpole-shaped, negatively phototactic, and adhere on substrates by secreting a glue from their adhesive organs. Although larvae often prefer hydrophobic surfaces, such as a silicone rubber, for settlement, hydrophobic materials are often used to reduce occurrence of fouling organisms on artificial structures. This inconsistency may indicate that an attractive surface for larvae is not always suitable for settlement. Micro-scale structures or roughness may enhance the settlement of ascidian larvae, but settlement is significantly reduced by a nano-scale nipple array (or moth-eye structure), suggesting functional properties of similar structures found on the body surfaces of various invertebrates. The substrate preferences of larvae should be one of the important bases in considering measures against biofouling, and this review also discusses the potential uses of materials to safely reduce the impacts of invasive species.

Abstract Background one of the most important age-dependent physiologic alterations in the body composition of older adult people is obesity and overweight, increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality rate. Objective The aim of the present study is to determine the prevalence of obesity in older adults in Iran. Methods The present study was conducted via meta-analysis and systematic review method, from March 2000 to October 2018. Subject-related literature was obtained via searches in ScienceDirect, Medline (PubMed), SID, Magiran, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases. Heterogeneity of studies was assessed using the I2 index, and data were analyzed by Comprehensive-Meta analysis software. Results In the assessment of 18 studies and 29,943 persons aged over 50 years, the prevalence of obesity in older adults of Iran was 21.4% (95%CI: 26.6–16.9%) based on the meta-analysis. The highest obesity prevalence was obtained in older adults of Babol (Amir Shahr) which was 44.2% (95%CI: 41.1–47.2%) in 2007, while the minimum obesity prevalence was found in older adults of Razavi Khorasan which was 11.3% (95%CI, 10–12.8%) in 2007. Further, as the sample size and the study year increased, the obesity prevalence diminished in older Iranian adults (p < 0.05). Conclusion This study suggests that the prevalence of obesity in the older adults of Iran is high. Accordingly, healthcare planners and politicians should consider effective and practical policies to reduce obesity in older adults.

Objectives: Recent studies demonstrated that the prorenin renin receptor (PRR) is present in adipose tissue. In adipose tissue stromal cells, PRR has the ability to bind renin and prorenin and contributes to the generation of angiotensinI (AngI). However, the contribution of adipocyte PRR to the generation of the vasoactive peptide, AngII and therefore to the regulation of blood pressure in physiological condition is unknown. The purpose of this study was to develop and characterize a new mouse model with adipocyte-specific PRR deficiency and define the role of adipose PRR in normal physiology. Methods and results: Female mice with 2 loxP sites flanking exon 2 of the PRR gene (floxed alleles, PRRfl/fl) were bred with aP2-Cre or with Adi-Cre male mice. Since PRR is located in the X chromosome, the male mice generated from the breeding were homozygotes for the deletion (PRRaP2 and PRRAdi). From the breeding, 5 PRRfl/fl, 2 PRRaP2 and 5 PRRAdi male mice were generated suggesting that the deletion of PRR in adipocyte was not lethal. Mice were fed on chow diet during 20 weeks. The body weight, the fat, lean mass and the blood pressure were quantified. Preliminary data suggest that the body weights (BW) were slightly decreased in PRRaP2 and PRRAdi compared to PRRfl/fl (PRRfl/fl: 29±1g; PRRaP2: 25±5g; PRRAdi: 28±1g). The slight reduction in BW was attributed to a reduction in fat mass (PRRfl/fl: 4.8±0.9g; PRRaP2: 3.8±1.8g; PRRAdi: 1.9±0.4g). Blood pressure was measured by plethysmography and by radiotelemetry. Preliminary data demonstrated that under physiological conditions, the SBP was not changed in PRRaP2 male mice compared to PRRfl/fl mice (plethysmography: PRRfl/fl: 108±1 mmHg; PRRaP2: 99±7 mmHg; radiotelemetry: PRRfl/fl: 129±2 mmHg; PRRaP2: 128±6 mmHg). The SBP of PRRAdi is currently under investigation. Conclusions: These results demonstrate the viability of mice with specific adipocyte deficiency of PRR. Future studies will define the effects of adipocyte PRR deficiency on obesity-induced hypertension.

The technological processes of bodywork are considered and the problem of choosing technological equipment is indicated. The statistical data about the efficiency indicators of company body divisions, operating in the body repair market in Krasnoyarsk, are presented. A composite quality index for the equipment of the bodywork department (using the example of body stocks) is proposed and calculated, and on its basis, some recommendations are given for companies which plan to enter the market of body repair services. Abstract The concept of available energy, as defined by Gibbs (1873b) is revisited. He gave representations of available energy for two circumstances. The first was the available energy of a “body,” for the case when a body, alone, is in a nonequilibrium condition and therefore has energy available. In turn, he presented the available energy of “the body and medium,” for the energy which is available because a body is not in equilibrium with some arbitrarily specified medium. Gibbs’ representations were graphical. Since Gibbs, representations with formulas have been developed and are common, for the “available energy of body and medium.” Gaggioli (1998a, b) has developed formulas which are more general, to represent “the available energy of the body (alone)” and to assign an exergy to subsystems of the body as a measure of each sub-system’s contribution to the available energy. In contrast to the available energy, exergy is an additive property, so that balance equations can be written. And the formulas are independent from any “medium,” which is important both theoretically and practically — because of its relevance to proper selection of “the dead state.” These issues are discussed and extended, after reviewing Gibbs development of available energy and additional concepts which he introduced, such as “available vacuum” and “capacity for entropy.” It is argued that these “availabililty” and “capacity” concepts are all equivalent to one another. In turn, because of interconvertability, it is seen that available energy is something more fundamental than “maximum useful work.” Furthermore, it is illustrated that available energy, equilibrium and stability, and thermostatic property relations are relative, to “constraints.”

ABSTRACT Background: KRAS mutations are important events in colorectal carcinogenesis, as well as negative predictors of response to EGFR inhibitors treatment. Aim: To investigate the association of clinical-pathological features with KRAS mutations in colorectal cancer patients treated. Methods: Data from 69 patients with colorectal cancer either metastatic at diagnosis or later, were retrospectively analyzed. The direct sequencing and pyrosequencing techniques were related to KRAS exon 2. The mutation diagnosis and its type were determined. Results: KRAS mutation was identified in 43.4% of patients. The most common was c.35G>T (p.G12V), c.35G>A (p.G12D) and c.38G>A (p.G13D). No correlation was found between KRAS mutation and age (p=0.646) or gender (p=0.815). However, mutated group had higher CEA levels at admission (p=0.048) and codon 13 mutation was associated with involvement of more than one metastatic site in disease progression (p=0.029). Although there was no association between primary tumor site and mutation diagnosis (p=0.568), primary colon was associated with worse overall survival (p=0.009). Conclusion: The KRAS mutation was identified in almost half of patients. Mutated KRAS group had higher levels of CEA at admission and the mutation at codon 13 was associated with involvement of more than one metastatic site in the course of the disease. Colon disease was associated with the worst overall survival.
