AbstractUnderstanding animal behavior in its natural habitat is a challenging task. One of the primary step for analyzing animal behavior is feature detection. In this study, we propose the use of deep convolutional neural network (CNN) to locate monkey features from raw RGB images of monkey in its natural environment. We train the model to identify features such as the nose and shoulders of the monkey at about 0.01 model loss.

Introduction: The complexity of recognition and counting of objects in a photographic image is directly related to variability of related factors: physical difference of objects from the same class, presence of images similar to objects to be recognized, non-uniform background, change of shooting conditions and position of the objects when the photo was taken. Most challenging are the problems of identifying people in crowds, animals in natural environment, cars from surveillance cameras, objects of construction and infrastructure on aerial photo images, etc. These problems have their own specific factor space, but the methodological approaches to their solution are similar. Purpose: The development of methodologies and software implementations solving the problem of recognition and counting of objects with high variability, on the example of reindeer recognition in the natural environment.  Methods: Two approaches are investigated: feature-based recognition based on binary pixel classification and reference-based recognition using convolutional neural networks. Results: Methodologies and programs have been developed for pixel-by-pixel recognition with subsequent binarization, image clustering and cluster counting and image recognition using the convolutional neural network of Mask R-CNN architecture. The network is first trained to recognize animals as a class from the array of MS COCO dataset images and then trained on the array of aerial photographs of reindeer herds. Analysis of the results shows that feature-based methods with pixel-by-pixel recognition give good results on relatively simple images (recognition error 10–15%). The presence of artifacts on the image that are close to the characteristics of the reindeer images leads to a significant increase in the error. The convolutional neural network showed higher accuracy, which on the test sample was 82%, with no false positives. Practical relevance: А software prototype has been created for the recognition system based on convolutional neural networks with a web interface, and the program itself has been put into limited operation.

Due to the benefits of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) in image classification, they have been extensively used in the computerized classification and focus of crop pests. The intention of the current find out about is to advance a deep convolutional neural network to mechanically identify 14 species of tea pests that possess symmetry properties. (1) As there are not enough tea pests images in the network to train the deep convolutional neural network, we proposes to classify tea pests images by fine-tuning the VGGNET-16 deep convolutional neural network. (2) Through comparison with traditional machine learning algorithms Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP), the performance of our method is evaluated (3) The three methods can identify tea tree pests well: the proposed convolutional neural network classification has accuracy up to 97.75%, while MLP and SVM have accuracies of 76.07% and 68.81%, respectively. Our proposed method performs the best of the assessed recognition algorithms. The experimental results also show that the fine-tuning method is a very powerful and efficient tool for small datasets in practical problems.

Abstract Today integration of facts from virtual and paper files may be very vital for the expertise control of efficient. This calls for the record to be localized at the photograph. Several strategies had been proposed to resolve this trouble; however, they may be primarily based totally on conventional photograph processing strategies that aren't sturdy to intense viewpoints and backgrounds. Deep Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), on the opposite hand, have demonstrated to be extraordinarily sturdy to versions in history and viewing attitude for item detection and classification responsibilities. We endorse new utilization of Neural Networks (NNs) for the localization trouble as a localization trouble. The proposed technique ought to even localize photos that don't have a very square shape. Also, we used a newly accrued dataset that has extra tough responsibilities internal and is in the direction of a slipshod user. The end result knowledgeable in 3 exclusive classes of photos and our proposed technique has 83% on average. The end result is as compared with the maximum famous record localization strategies and cell applications.

Abstract Background 99mTc-pertechnetate thyroid scintigraphy is a valid complementary avenue for evaluating thyroid disease in the clinic, the image feature of thyroid scintigram is relatively simple but the interpretation still has a moderate consistency among physicians. Thus, we aimed to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) system to automatically classify the four patterns of thyroid scintigram. Methods We collected 3087 thyroid scintigrams from center 1 to construct the training dataset (n = 2468) and internal validating dataset (n = 619), and another 302 cases from center 2 as external validating datasets. Four pre-trained neural networks that included ResNet50, DenseNet169, InceptionV3, and InceptionResNetV2 were implemented to construct AI models. The models were trained separately with transfer learning. We evaluated each model’s performance with metrics as following: accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), recall, precision, and F1-score. Results The overall accuracy of four pre-trained neural networks in classifying four common uptake patterns of thyroid scintigrams all exceeded 90%, and the InceptionV3 stands out from others. It reached the highest performance with an overall accuracy of 92.73% for internal validation and 87.75% for external validation, respectively. As for each category of thyroid scintigrams, the area under the receiver operator characteristic curve (AUC) was 0.986 for ‘diffusely increased,’ 0.997 for ‘diffusely decreased,’ 0.998 for ‘focal increased,’ and 0.945 for ‘heterogeneous uptake’ in internal validation, respectively. Accordingly, the corresponding performances also obtained an ideal result of 0.939, 1.000, 0.974, and 0.915 in external validation, respectively. Conclusions Deep convolutional neural network-based AI model represented considerable performance in the classification of thyroid scintigrams, which may help physicians improve the interpretation of thyroid scintigrams more consistently and efficiently.

Abstract Automated diagnosis of diseases in the recent years have gain lots of advantages and potential. Specially automated screening of cancers has helped the clinicians over the time. Sometimes it is seen that the diagnosis of the clinicians is biased but automated detection can help them to come to a proper conclusion. Automated screening is implemented using either artificial inter connected system or convolutional inter connected system. As Artificial neural network is slow in computation, so Convolutional Neural Network has achieved lots of importance in the recent years. It is also seen that Convolutional Neural Network architecture requires a smaller number of datasets. This also provides them an edge over Artificial Neural Networks. Convolutional Neural Networks is used for both segmentation and classification. Image dissection is one of the important steps in the model used for any kind of image analysis. This paper surveys various such Convolutional Neural Networks that are used for medical image analysis.

Waste is goods / materials that have no value in the scope of production, where in some cases the waste is disposed of carelessly and can damage the environment. The Indonesian government in 2019 recorded waste reaching 66-67 million tons, which is higher than the previous year, which was 64 million tons. Waste is differentiated based on its type, namely organic and anorganic waste. In the field of computer science, the process of sensing the type waste can be done using a camera and the Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) method, which is a type of neural network that works by receiving input in the form of images. The input will be trained using CNN architecture so that it will produce output that can recognize the object being inputted. This study optimizes the use of the CNN method to obtain accurate results in identifying types of waste. Optimization is done by adding several hyperparameters to the CNN architecture. By adding hyperparameters, the accuracy value is 91.2%. Meanwhile, if the hyperparameter is not used, the accuracy value is only 67.6%. There are three hyperparameters used to increase the accuracy value of the model. They are dropout, padding, and stride. 20% increase in dropout to increase training overfit. Whereas padding and stride are used to speed up the model training process.
