Proliferation disease development was observed on apple trees one to five years old. The course of the disease was found to be longer and more acute in young trees than in ones about a dozen years old. Apple trees with symptoms of proliferation disease were 27% shorter than healthy ones, had smaller increases (by 52%), thinner trunks (by 35%) and smaller crowns (by 42%).
