AbstractWe rework the Mori–Mukai classification of Fano 3-folds, by describing each of the 105 families via biregular models as zero loci of general global sections of homogeneous vector bundles over products of Grassmannians.

AbstractFor a 2-category 2C we associate a notion of a principal 2C-bundle. For the 2-category of 2-vector spaces, in the sense of M.M. Kapranov and V.A. Voevodsky, this gives the 2-vector bundles of N.A. Baas, B.I. Dundas and J. Rognes. Our main result says that the geometric nerve of a good 2-category is a classifying space for the associated principal 2-bundles. In the process of proving this we develop powerful machinery which may be useful in further studies of 2-categorical topology. As a corollary we get a new proof of the classification of principal bundles. Another 2-category of 2-vector spaces has been proposed by J.C. Baez and A.S. Crans. A calculation using our main theorem shows that in this case the theory of principal 2-bundles splits, up to concordance, as two copies of ordinary vector bundle theory. When 2C is a cobordism type 2-category we get a new notion of cobordism-bundles which turns out to be classified by the Madsen–Weiss spaces.

AbstractWe prove that, given a smooth projective curve C of genus g≥2, the forgetful morphism $\mathcal {M}_{\mathbf {O}_r} \longrightarrow \mathcal {M}_{\mathbf {GL}_r}$ (respectively $\mathcal M_{\mathbf {Sp}_{2r}}\longrightarrow \mathcal M_{\mathbf {GL}_{2r}}$) from the moduli space of orthogonal (respectively symplectic) bundles to the moduli space of all vector bundles over C is an embedding. Our proof relies on an explicit description of a set of generators for the polynomial invariants on the representation space of a quiver under the action of a product of classical groups.

This note is about the geometry of holomorphic foliations. Let X be a polynomial vector field with isolated singularities on C². We announce some results regarding two problems: 1. Given a finitely curved orbit L of X, under which conditions is L algebraic? 2. If X has some non-algebraic finitely curved orbit L what is the classification of X? Problem 1 is related to the following question: Let C <FONT FACE=Symbol>Ì</FONT> C² be a holomorphic curve which has finite total Gaussian curvature. IsC contained in an algebraic curve?

We determine the group structure of the homotopy set whose target is the automorphism group of the Cuntz algebra [Formula: see text] for finite [Formula: see text] in terms of K-theory. We show that there is an example of a space for which the homotopy set is a noncommutative group, and hence, the classifying space of the automorphism group of the Cuntz algebra for finite [Formula: see text] is not an H-space. We also make an improvement of Dadarlat’s classification of continuous fields of the Cuntz algebras in terms of vector bundles.

Abstract In this article, we deal with the structure of the spherical Hall algebra $\mathbf{U}$ of coherent sheaves with parabolic structures on a smooth projective curve $X$ of arbitrary genus $g$. We provide a shuffle-like presentation of the bundle part $\mathbf{U}^&gt;$ and show the existence of generic spherical Hall algebra of genus $g$. We also prove that the algebra $\mathbf{U}$ contains the characteristic functions on all the Harder–Narasimhan strata. These results together imply Schiffmann’s theorem on the existence of Kac polynomials for parabolic vector bundles of fixed rank and multi-degree over $X$. On the other hand, the shuffle structure we obtain is new and we make links to the representations of quantum affine algebras of type $A$.
