Unlike the wreath product, the block product is not associative at the level of varieties. All decomposition theorems involving block products, such as the bilateral version of Krohn–Rhodes' theorem, have always assumed a right-to-left bracketing of the operands. We consider here the left-to-right bracketing, which is generally weaker. More precisely, we are interested in characterizing for any pseudovarieties of monoids U, V the smallest pseudovariety W that contains U and such that W □ V = W. This allows us to obtain new decomposition results for a number of important varieties such as DA, DO and DA * G. We apply these results to characterize the regular languages definable with generalized first-order sentences using only two variables and to shed new light on recent results on regular languages recognized by bounded-depth circuits with a linear number of wires and regular languages with small communication complexity.

Fruit fly Bactrocera spp. is one of important pests in chili pepper. The use of methyl eugenol (ME) block plus as an attractant in traps is one method of controlling fruit flies populations. This study aims to find out the appropriate formulation of ME block plus formulation in increasing fruit fly catches on chili pepper. The experiment was carried out from January to April 2018 in Lembang Village, Lembang District, West Bandung Regency. The experiment used a randomized block design consists of eight treatments and three replications. The treatments tested were ME 2 ml was applied to all treatments using cotton; block; chili essence 4 ml block; 4 ml block of guava essence; orange essence 4 ml block; starfruit essence 4 ml block; mango essence 4 ml block; an attractant block product with the active ingredient ME. Although the results showed that all the treatments tested could not attract female fruit flies, the essence formulation was successful in attracting male fruit flies by 87%. The 4 ml chili essence in the 2 ml ME block formulation was the most effective treatment to increase male fruit fly catches by as much as 377 fruit flies/traps/week specifically the species Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel), Bactrocera carambolae Drew & Hancock, Bactrocera umbrosa Fabricius, and hybrid fruit flies B. dorsalis x B. carambolae.

The block product turbo code (BPTC) is classified as one of block turbo code concatenation forms. The Hamming code can detect two-bit error and correct one-bit error. The BPTC uses two Hamming codes for "column" coding and "row" coding, it has improved the Hamming code correcting only one error. In addition, the BPTC carries out block interleaving coding for disorganizing the transmission sequence before transmission, so as to avoid burst errors when the signal meets multi-path channel in the channel. This paper will discuss the decoding mechanism of the BPTC and analyze the efficiency of using a soft decoding algorithm in the decoding process. The soft Hamming Decoder is based on error patterns which belong to the same syndrome. It is shown that it is sufficient to investigate error patterns with one and two errors to gain up to 1.2 dB compared to hard decision decoding. Here, we will consider also the error patterns with three errors which belong to the determined syndrome, which increases the gain and improves the quality of the soft-output due to the increased number of comparisons with valid code words, in despite that, it will increase the complexity of the decoding process. The system is based on two Hamming block channel code combinations, which can be similar or different, a block interleaving to construct a BPSK modulation and BPTC coding system in the concept of feedback encoding in turbo code over an AWGN channel. To observe its coding improvement, we present the simulation results for the soft decoding of the BPTC codes of a code word length from 49 bits (using two (7,4) codes) up to 1440 bits (using two (127,120) codes).
