The influence of some factors on spironolactone stability in solution was studied, by applying high-performance liquid chromatography, as a part of a pharmaceutical preformulation study in order to obtain a spironolactone solution for alopecia treatment. Solutions of 1 mg/ml spironolactone in aqueous ethanolic solution 1 : 1 and in 20 mM cyclodextrines solutions (b-, hydroxi-b- and methyl-b-cyclodextrine) was used, maintained at 8 and 22 �C, protected from light and after UV irradiation at 254 nm. The main degradation products were 7a-thiospirolactone and canrenone. The most stable solutions were the alcoholic ones and with methyl-beta-cyclodextrine, but the simultaneous action of temperature and UV irradiation allowed degradation processes after one hour of exposure, more aggressive in the presence of methyl-beta-cyclodextrine. In conclusion, for alopecia treatment with spironolactone a 1 mg/mL ethanolic solution could be used and it is recommendable the protection of treated zone.

Communicative structure in contemporary reformed preaching – from linear to circular process? Reformed preaching stems from a tradition in which Scripture has been viewed as the primary source for composing a sermon (the Sola Scriptura principle). In this tradition a sermon is composed starting with the exposition of the text, and then proceeding to the application of its message in the context of contemporary listeners. This process may lead to the perception that the communicative structure of this kind of preaching functions in a linear fashion. Since the second half of the twentieth century ever-stronger critical voices have surfaced against a linear communicative structure in preaching, and a tendency to emphasise listeners’ needs has manifested itself. Hermeneutical interchange between text and listener in the process of understanding has become the prime concern. The result of this new focus has been a growing trend among homiletical scholars to define and qualify the communicative structure in a sermon as a circular process. Taking note of critical voices against the traditional linear model, it is thus attempted to investigate the possibility of a third way – a way in which the authority of the message of the biblical text with the unchanging truth that proceeds from it, as well as the unique- ness of the situation of contemporary listeners is fully taken into account. The point of departure is taken in a spatial model in which the simultaneous action of listening to the text as well as to contemporary listeners is anchored in an underlying depth-structure, that is, the pneumatological anchoring of faith in the living Christ.

Stress corrosion cracking behavior of 4340 steel in oxygen-containing or chloride containing aqueous solution was researched, the tensile experiment results indicated 100°C deaerated distilled water, the rupture of 4340 steel mainly belongs to ductile fracture, the addition of oxygen or chloride would increase the SCC tendency of 4340 steel and transformed the rupture mechanism from ductile fracture to brittle rupture, the existence of oxygen or chloride would decreaseKISCCof 4340 steel in 100°C aqueous solution slightly, the simultaneous action of oxygen and chloride existed, and the simultaneous action would further increase the SCC tendency of 4340 steel in aqueous solution.

A closed-form solution is presented for the small deformation analysis of a straight thin-walled circular cylinder subjected to the simultaneous action of bending and twisting moments. Dimensionless interaction curves and charts which relate the variables, bending moment, curvature, maximum effective strain, twisting moment, and shear strain are also provided for engineering practice convenience. The average stress-strain diagram of the cylinder is described by two straight lines. The result presented herein is not only a good approximation of a wide class of piping materials, but also provides a standard tool for estimating the accuracy of different direct schemes such as numerical integration, finite-difference, and finite-element methods.

Microstructural change of TiB2-Cu nanocomposite during spark plasma sintering (SPS) was investigated. Under simultaneous action of pressure, temperature and pulse electric current titanium diboride nanoparticles distributed in copper matrix move, agglomerate and form a interpenetrating phase composite with a fine-grained skeleton. Increase of SPS temperatures and holding times promotes the densification of sintered compacts due to local melting of copper matrix.

We construct and study C*-algebras associated with subshifts in symbolic dynamics as a generalization of Cuntz–Krieger algebras for topological Markov shifts. We prove some universal properties for the C*-algebras and give a criterion for them to be simple and purely infinite. We also present an example of a C*-algebra coming from a subshift which is not conjugate to a Markov shift.

Monkeys traced spirals on a planar surface as unitary activity was recorded from either premotor or primary motor cortex. Using the population vector algorithm, the hand's trajectory could be accurately visualized with the cortical activity throughout the task. The time interval between this prediction and the corresponding movement varied linearly with the instantaneous radius of curvature; the prediction interval was longer when the path of the finger was more curved (smaller radius). The intervals in the premotor cortex fell into two groups, whereas those in the primary motor cortex formed a single group. This suggests that the change in prediction interval is a property of a single population in primary motor cortex, with the possibility that this outcome is due to the different properties generated by the simultaneous action of separate subpopulations in premotor cortex. Electromyographic (EMG) activity and joint kinematics were also measured in this task. These parameters varied harmonically throughout the task with many of the same characteristics as those of single cortical cells. Neither the lags between joint-angular velocities and hand velocity nor the lags between EMG and hand velocity could explain the changes in prediction interval between cortical activity and hand velocity. The simple spatial and temporal relationship between cortical activity and finger trajectory suggests that the figural aspects of this task are major components of cortical activity.
