Abstract We study the charge-to-mass ratios of BPS states in four-dimensional $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 supergravities arising from Calabi-Yau threefold compactifications of Type IIB string theory. We present a formula for the asymptotic charge-to-mass ratio valid for all limits in complex structure moduli space. This is achieved by using the sl(2)-structure that emerges in any such limit as described by asymptotic Hodge theory. The asymptotic charge-to-mass formula applies for sl(2)-elementary states that couple to the graviphoton asymptotically. Using this formula, we determine the radii of the ellipsoid that forms the extremality region of electric BPS black holes, which provides us with a general asymptotic bound on the charge-to-mass ratio for these theories. Finally, we comment on how these bounds for the Weak Gravity Conjecture relate to their counterparts in the asymptotic de Sitter Conjecture and Swampland Distance Conjecture.

Abstract We study non-supersymmetric extremal black hole excitations of 4d $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 supersymmetric string vacua arising from compactification on Calabi-Yau threefolds. The values of the (vector multiplet) moduli at the black hole horizon are governed by the attractor mechanism. This raises natural questions, such as “what is the distribution of attractor points on moduli space?” and “how many attractor black holes are there with horizon area up to a certain size?” We employ tools developed by Denef and Douglas [1] to answer these questions.

Following the same treatment of Bellucci et al. we obtain, the hitherto unknown general solutions of the radial attractor flow equations for extremal black holes, both for non-BPS with non-vanishing and vanishing central charge Z for the so-called st2 model, the minimal rank-two [Formula: see text] symmetric supergravity in d = 4 space-time dimensions. We also make useful comparisons with results that already exist in literature, and introduce the fake supergravity (first-order) formalism to be used in our analysis. An analysis of the BPS bound all along the non-BPS attractor flows and of the marginal stability of corresponding D-brane charge configurations has also been presented.

An algorithm for constructing general static black hole configuration for the theory of N=2, d= 5 supergravity coupled to an arbitrary number of Abelain vector multiplets is given. The underlying very special geometry structure plays a major role in this construction. From the viewpoint of M-theory compactified on a Calabi–Yau threefold, these black holes are identified with BPS winding states of the membrane around two-cycles of the Calabi–Yau threefold, and thus are of importance in the probing of the phase transitions in the moduli space of M-theory compactified on a Calabi–Yau threefold.
