Abstract. The ancient city of Aleppo is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. It may have been inhabited in the sixth millennium BC and it is a World Heritage City since 1986. Aleppo was severely damaged during the Syrian conflict. Therefore, the paper explores the adequate frameworks that are needed to tackle the emerging challenges of conservation in complicated situation after conflicts. As any conservation action starts with a decision, conservation standers adopted since the early twentieth century acknowledge the need for decisions to be informed through the best available scientific evidence. This paper proposes an analysis of the methodology used for the evaluation of damages caused by war in Aleppo and suggests decision-making tools DMT validated through a pilot project to guide post-conflict revitalization efforts. Within this framework, this paper analyzed the DMT in the rehabilitation of a Souk in the historic commercial center as the pilot project implementation. The project was done by 'Aga Khan Foundation' in partnership with 'Directorate General of antiquities and museums' in Syria and different national stakeholders. The success of the pilot project within the expected timeframe, materials, cost, and the souk regaining its function and vitality was recognized as a validation of the credibility and validity of the methodology adopted. The resulted data (plans, 3d scanning, etc.) are tools for decision-makers in the field of rehabilitation. The methodology can be replicated by all actors in the fields of conservation, whether in Aleppo or any other historical site.

Objectives:Evaluating the impact of recommendations based upon health technology assessment (HTA) represents a challenge for both HTA agencies and healthcare policy makers. This research sought to understand factors affecting the uptake of HTA recommendations to support decision making with respect to the introduction of three health technologies.Methods:Using a multidimensional framework, based upon a combination of theoretical models, a case study was conducted. A total of twenty-eight semistructured interviews were done with physicians from fifteen hospitals and other stakeholders in Catalonia. Interview content was analyzed iteratively and classified according to theoretical dimensions and contextual factors.Results:At the sociopolitical level, factors related to the organization and financing of the health system were found to affect the utilization of HTA recommendations. At the healthcare organization level, existing collaborations between the hospital and the HTA agency favored the integration of recommendations into practices. Formalism in the organization also influenced the utilization of HTA recommendations. At the professional level, the high degree of autonomy of specialists, the importance of peers and collegial control, and the definition of professional roles and responsibilities influenced physicians' willingness to integrate HTA recommendations into their practice.Conclusions:This study offers a comprehensive framework to understand the complex dynamics that affect adoption of health technologies in organizational and professional practices. The findings suggest some avenues to promote the integration of HTA recommendations into practices and, thus, increase the utilization of scientific evidence to support decision making in health care.

Current supply chain methods are having difficulties in resolving problems arising from the lack of trust in supply chains. The root reason lies in two challenges brought to the traditional mechanism: self-interests of supply chain members and information asymmetry in production processes. Blockchain is a promising technology to address these problems. The key objective of this paper is to present qualitative analysis for blockchain in supply chain as the decision-making framework to implement this new technology. The analysis method used Val IT business case framework, validated by the expert judgements. The further study needs to be elaborated by either the existing organization that use blockchain or assessment by the organization that will use blockchain to improve their supply chain management.

This study explored the utility of the learner autonomy concept in the Zimbabwean O Level English as a Second Language (ESL) classroom focusing on three Gweru urban high schools of the Midlands Province. The researchers intended to establish whether learner autonomy was a reality or just a myth in Zimbabwean classrooms. A qualitative multiple case study design was applied focusing on teaching strategies, availability of resources, challenges faced and ways of optimising it. Questionnaires and document analysis were used for data collection. The findings revealed that the concept did not manifest in explicit terms, the learners did not participate in decision making, and the teachers were not adequately prepared to administer autonomous processes with students. For it to be a reality, the Education Ministry is recommended to establish a comprehensive framework of how autonomous learning should be implemented. Teacher training should explicitly focus on how to develop autonomous learners. Teachers ought to be flexible enough to accommodate learners' contributions towards their learning.
