AbstractIn our attempt to investigate the basic active galactic nucleus (AGN) paradigm requiring a centrally located supermassive black hole (SMBH), a close to Keplerian accretion disk and a jet perpendicular to its plane, we have searched for radio continuum in galaxies with H2O megamasers in their disks. We observed 18 such galaxies with the Very Large Baseline Array in C band (5 GHz, ~2 mas resolution) and we detected 5 galaxies at 8 σ or higher levels. For those sources for which the maser data is available, the positions of masers and those of the 5 GHz radio continuum sources coincide within the uncertainties, and the radio continuum is perpendicular to the maser disk’s orientation within the position angle uncertainties.

Corn cob, an agricultural waste, is paralyzed at different temperatures (700oC, 800oC and 900oC). Microwave absorption of carbon in the frequency range of 2 GHz to 8 GHz is reported. Carbon activated  with 5%  nickel nitrate showed more than 90% absorption of microwave in the frequency range from 6 GHz to 8 GHz, while carbon activated  with 10% Nickel nitrate treated corn cob showed 90% absorption  in the frequency range of 2.5 GHz to 5 GHz. Carbon showing the best absorption are characterized by XRD, Raman spectra and SEM . It is suggested that corn cob treatment   alone with KOH did not improve the microwave absorption, whereas treatment along with nickel nitrate improved the absorption property much better. It is proposed that treatment with nickel nitrate helps in creating suitable pores in carbon   which improved the absorption behavior because while treating carbon with 1N HCl helps to leach out nickel creating equivalent amount of pores in the carbon.

Abstract Time-Resolved Emission (TRE) is a popular technique for non-invasive acquisition of time-domain waveforms from active nodes through the backside of an integrated circuit. [1] State-of-the art TRE systems offer high bandwidths (> 5 GHz), excellent spatial resolution (0.25um), and complete visibility of all nodes on the chip. TRE waveforms are typically used for detecting incorrect signal levels, race conditions, and/or timing faults with resolution of a few ps. However, extracting the exact voltage behavior from a TRE waveform is usually difficult because dynamic photon emission is a highly nonlinear process. This has limited the perceived utility of TRE in diagnosing analog circuits. In this paper, we demonstrate extraction of voltage waveforms in passing and failing conditions from a small-swing, differential logic circuit. The voltage waveforms obtained were crucial in corroborating a theory for some failures inside an 0.18um ASIC.

Abstract Next generation assembly/package development challenges are primarily increased interconnect complexity and density with ever shorter development time. The results of this trend present some distinct challenges for the analytical tools/techniques to support this technical roadmap. The key challenge in the analytical tools/techniques is the development of non-destructive imaging for improved time to information. This paper will present the key drivers for the non-destructive imaging, results of literature search and evaluation of key analytical techniques currently available. Based on these studies requirements of a 3D imaging capability will be discussed. Critical breakthroughs required for development of such a capability are also summarized.

Background and Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the mammographic, sonographic and MRI findings of metaplastic breast carcinoma. Methods: In this retrospective review study, we analyzed the medical files of 9600 patients who were treated for invasive breast cancers. Clinical information, histopathologic and radiologic findings of 65 patients were included in this study. All existing radiologic images and medical reports were reviewed retrospectively. Thirty-three patients had MG, 58 patients had US and 7 patients had MRI imaging results. Results: Mammographically, the most frequent presentations of MPBC were round shape, microlobulated margin and high density masses. Calcifications with or without masses were not a frequent finding. The most common sonographic findings were round shape, partially indistinct angular margin, hypoechoic and heterogeneous echo patterns and no posterior feature masses. All lesions were presented as masses rather than non-mass enhancements on magnetic resonance imaging. Features of masses had more malignant feature on MRI than other modalities in all 7 patients. Conclusion: Metaplastic breast carcinoma is one of the rarest poorly differentiated invasive breast carcinomas. Interestingly, these aggressive tumors demonstrate benign or moderately malign features on imaging methods. This appearance of MPBC can cause it to be misdiagnosed as a benign breast lesion especially in young women. MPBC should be kept in mind in the differential diagnosis of large palpable breast masses. Therefore, follow-up at short intervals and/or multimodality imaging studies which include breast MRI are important for the diagnosis of MPBC.
