AbstractMotivated by two seminal models proposed to explain the Universe acceleration, this paper is devoted to study a hybrid model which is constructed through a generalized Chaplygin gas with the addition of a bulk viscosity. We call the model a viscous generalized Chaplygin gas (VGCG) and its free parameters are constrained through several cosmological data like the Observational Hubble Parameter, Type Ia Supernovae, Baryon Acoustic Oscillations, Strong Lensing Systems, HII Galaxies and using Joint Bayesian analysis. In addition, we implement a Om-diagnostic to analyze the VGCC dynamics and its difference with the standard cosmological model. The hybrid model shows important differences when compared with the standard cosmological model. Finally, based on our Joint analysis we find that the VGCG could be an interesting candidate to alleviate the well-known Hubble constant tension.

In this paper we study a quintessence cosmological model in which the dark energy component is considered to be the generalized Chaplygin gas and the curvature of the three-geometry is taken into account. Two parameters characterize this sort of fluid: ν and α. We use different astronomical data for restricting these parameters. It is shown that the constraint ν ≲ α agrees well enough with the astronomical observations.

We implement the transition from dark matter to dark energy in k-essence cosmologies for a very large set of kinetic functions F, in a way alternative to recent proposals which use generalized Chaplygin gas and transient models. Here we require that the pressure admits a power-law expansion around some value of the kinetic energy where the pressure vanishes. In addition, for suitable values of the parameters of the model, the speed of sound of the dark matter will be low. We first present the discussion in fairly general terms, and later consider for illustration two examples.

We investigate the cosmological constraints on the variable modified Chaplygin gas (VMCG) model from the latest observational data: Union2 dataset of Type Ia supernovae (SNIa), the observational Hubble data (OHD), the baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO) and the cosmic microwave background (CMB) data. By using the Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method, we obtain the mean values of parameters in the flat model: [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]. Furthermore, we investigate the thermodynamical properties of VMCG model at apparent horizon, event horizon and particle horizon respectively.
