Islamic education and character education within the 2013 Curriculum at Senior High School in Indonesia are included in group A topics which is considered as compulsory.  The central government has formulated purposes, learning outcome competence, core competence as well as basic competence of those two topics. Thus, it requires high-quality management to achieve the standards. However, in reality,  Islamic education and character education teachers, particularly at State Senior High School I Pakem, Yoyakarta, are rarely aware of this scientific content in relation to management activities.    It is admitted there that management activity is, in fact, teacher obligation yet it is often regarded merely as routine. This research, which is aimed at describing curriculum management on Islamic education and character education with integration –interconnection scientific content at Senior High School, is a field study using qualitative approach. The subjects are Islamic education and character education teachers at State Senior High School I Pakem Yogyakarta while the object is the curriculum management of Islamic education and character education of Senior High School class X, XI and XII. Data were gathered using observation, interview and documentation which are then analyzed based on  Matthew B. Miles and A. Michael Huberman. Flow model was used as data analysis including three elements namely, data gathering which was done along with data reduction using classification, topic concentration and generalization, abstraction and rough data transformation; data analysis which comprises data display, information arrangement and conclusion or data verification under the topic of curriculum management of Islamic education and character education at Senior High School particularly on planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling phase related to integration-interconnection among bayani, irfani and burhani. A large group of educators is calling for a complete socialization of the high school program by the use of a core curriculum. This curriculum would take the common experiences of all fields of subject matter and combine them into an “integrated program” in which the pupil would learn by using all knowledge indiscriminately. Most forward looking mathematics teachers agree that we must stop compartmentalizing our mathematics by subjects and years, and proceed to fuse algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and analytics, into a single complete development of the science of number and space. But the core curriculum goes one better and includes not only this, but a fusing of all subjects into one single complete development of knowledge that will function in the life of every individual. Professor Fehr1 feels that mathematics teachers are afraid of this because they are afraid the good ship mathematics may be lost in the process. The educators who are proposing the core curriculum are intelligent people. Let us then be perfectly frank and seek to learn if socialization by the use of the core curriculum is a desirable program in the high school, and if it is, how it can be achieved.

The text of the articleis a proposal of a way of working in the new high school (after primary school), whichfunctions in the conditions set by the structural and curriculum reform. The author distances himself from the concept of historical and literary education, at the same time showing the inability to maintain the problematic order in literary and cultural education under the conditions of implementing the obligation of the core curriculum. In opposition to the sanctioned model of education in the education of high school students, it proposes a concept of work that, on the one hand, respects the curriculum requirements, and on the otherhand, meets the authentic needs and expectations of students, and includes broadly understood popular culture in the scope of teaching interests. Such thinking is exemplified by the presentation of anexcerpt from the work plan implemented in the firstgrades of the new high school. It is provided with a commentary that reveals the difficulties of such an organization of literary and cultural education in the current curriculum conditions.

The learning of sodium and its chemical compounds are the beginning of systematic learning of elemental compounds in senior high school, and have a vital influence on senior high school chemistry learning. This paper is about the teaching design of the first class --the properties of sodium. Based on the five core qualities of chemistry, it adopts the method of situational teaching, gives prominence to the connection and transition among knowledge points, and sets up multiple experiments and group discussions to guide students to construct and form their thinking pattern in chemistry and scientific thinking methods.

Gaps are manifest in instilling the core values among the Filipino basic education students. Thus, this documentary analysis was conducted on the senior high school English-related Curriculum Guides in order to determine how the design of language and literature curricula incorporates being maka-Diyos (godly), makatao (mindful of humanity), makakalikasan (respectful of nature) and makabansa (patriotic) in the competencies. Anchored on Speech Act Theory and Linear Communication Model and guided by the indicators in DepEd Order 8, s. 2015, this study unraveled the paths using four-step systematic coding discussed with two intercoders. Thematic patterning found ‘open’ paths with optional integration and ‘direct’ paths with straightforward core values inclusion in the instruction. The paths also employ the core values as subject of six activities: creating, synthesizing, applying/demonstrating, socialized activities, valuing, and understanding. Findings revealed that direct paths are available for the three values except for ‘makakalikasan’, leaving environmentalism an optional value in senior high school language classrooms. The core values harmonization in all senior high school curricula must therefore be reevaluated. As language and literature are natural resources, it should also be efficiently employed as a roadmap for national transformation.
