2 New Kidney Flukes (Digenea, Renicolidae) From Marine Birds of Heron Island, Australia

Four members of the family Renicolidae are described from Heron I., Australia. Adults of two new species are found in the kidneys of the black noddy, Anous minutus. Of these, Renicola foliata, sp. nov., differs from related species in the position of the ovary and testes, in the lobate gonads, in egg size, and in the presence of an oesophagus. R. caudescens, sp. nov., is distinguished by its body size, the lobation and position of the testes, the distribution of the vitellarian follicles and the size of the oral sucker. Also described are a renicolid metacercaria from the musculature of an atherinid fish, and a renicolid cercaria (cercaria F of Rohde, 1981) from the gastropod Planaxis sulcatus.

Two new species of oribatid mites of the family Oppiidae collected from leaf litter in Madagascar are described. Ramuselloppia indistincta sp. nov. differs from Ramuselloppia anomala by larger body size, the presence of epimeral tubercles  and comparatively long lamellar, interlamellar and notogastral setae and the absence of costulae and heads of bothridial setae. An identification key to known species of Ramuselloppia is provided. Lanceoppia (Baioppia) rugosa sp. nov. differs from all species of the subgenus by heavily rugose posterior part of the notogaster. The genus Ramuselloppia and subgenus Lanceoppia (Baioppia) are recorded in the Ethiopian region for the first time; the species Multioppia (Hammeroppia) wilsoni is recorded in Madagascar for the first time.

Two specimens of this fluke were collected from the nictitating membrane of the Steppe Eagle, Aquila nipalensis Hudson, shot near the lake Chinhut, about 5 miles from Lucknow, U.P.The body.(Fig. 1) is aspinose, flattened and clavate with a narrow anterior and a broadly rounded posterior end. It measures 4·5–5·9 mm. in length and 1·5–1·8 mm. in maximum width in the middle region. The oral sucker is terminal measuring 0·33–0·36 mm. X 0·47–0·49 mm. The ventral sucker is larger than the oral sucker, situated at the level of the division of. the anterior and middle-thirds of the body, and about 1·14 mm. from the anterior extremity. It measures 0·56–0·61 mm. X 0·52–0·54 mm.

Two new mite species from Madagascar, based on female specimens, viz. Armascirus skvarlai sp. nov. and Cunaxa corpuzrarosae sp. nov. (Acari: Prostigmata: Cunaxidae), are described and figured. Armascirus skvarlai sp. nov. differs from the related species A. gimpeli Smiley, 1992 by having long hysterosomal platelets, thin and long lateromedial sts on the palpal genu, and from A. ozarkensis Skvarla & Dowling, 2012 by having a cone-shaped proterosomal shield with straight lateral edges, and by its nearly triangular hysterosomal shield. Cunaxa corpuzrarosae sp. nov. differs from the related species C. potchensis Den Heyer, 1979 by having 4 pairs of sts between coxae IV and the genital region, and by having a short stout palpal femoral apophysis; and from C. mageei Smiley, 1992 and C. neogazella Smiley, 1992 by having much shorter hysterodorsal and palpal tibiotarsal setae.

The present study is based on oribatid mite material (Acari, Oribatida) collected from soil of Kaaimansgat estuary, Wilderness, Western Cape, South Africa in 2018. A list of identified taxa, including 41 species from 34 genera and 23 families, is presented; of these, nine species, three genera and one family are recorded in South Africa for the first time. Two new species belonging to the family Oppiidae are described: Kokoppia kaaimansensis sp. nov. differs from Kokoppia dudichi (Balogh, 1982) by the larger body size, the medium sized lamellar and interlamellar setae, the presence of muscle sigillae in the interlamellar region and the distinctly semi-oval epimeral borders IV and the absence of notogastral setae c; Paroppia neethlingi sp. nov. differs from other species of the genus by the localization of adanal lyrifissures in a direct apoanal position and the absence of epimeral borders IV. Revised generic diagnoses and identification keys to the known species of Kokoppia and Paroppia are presented.

Two new species of oribatid mites of the family Damaeidae collected from the Russian Far East, are described. Belbodamaeus gobilliensis sp. nov. is most similar to Belbodamaeus rarituberculatus Bayartogtokh, 2004, but differs from the latter by the larger body size, the absence of propodolateral apophyses and ventrosejugal tubercles, and the presence of prodorsobasal tubercles Ba, neotrichy on epimere II and five setae on femora III and IV. Epidamaeus chopeensis sp. nov. is most similar to Epidamaeus nortoni Bayartogtokh, 2004, but differs from the latter by the smaller body size, the presence of comparatively long and narrowly phylliform dorsal notogastral setae, parastigmatic apophyses Sa and leg tarsi formula 22-18-18-15, and the absence of thick setae on leg segments.

The present study is based on oribatid mite material collected in 1936, 1964 and 1968 in Venezuela. A list of identified taxa, including 18 species from 18 genera and 15 families is presented; of these, eight species, eight genera and two families are recorded in this country for the first time, and one species is recorded in the Neotropical region for the first time. Two new species of the family Achipteriidae (Acari, Oribatida) are described. Campachipteria hummelincki sp. nov. differs from C. neotropicalis (Mahunka, 1983) by the smaller body size, long and similar in length notogastral setae and well dilated bothridial heads. Cubachipteria maxsellnicki sp. nov. differs from C. gaoligongensis Tang, Yang & Liang, 2015 and C. pianmaensis Tang, Yang & Liang, 2015 by the short, distally ciliate bothridial setae and the position of the lamellar setae.

The genus Plectosphaerella is the largest genus in the family Plectosphaerellaceae. Some species are plant pathogens, whereas others are soil-borne. Seven Plectosphaerella isolates were collected from various locations in the southwest of China. Using multi-locus phylogenetic (LSU, ITS, EF1α, RPB2) analyses combined with morphological characteristics, two new species, Plectosphaerella guizhouensissp. nov. and Plectosphaerella nauculasporasp. nov. are described, illustrated and compared with related species.

Abstract. Two new fossil species of Baltocar Kuschel, 1992 and Pseudomesauletes Legalov, 2001 (Curculionoidea: Rhynchitidae) are described from Eocene Baltic amber. Baltocar sontagae sp. nov. is similar to B. groehni Riedel, 2012 but differs in the shorter rostrum, tarsomere 1 shorter than tarsomere 5 and 1.4× as long as tarsomere 2, longer elytra, and shorter body. Pseudomesauletes lobanovi sp. nov. is similar to P. culex (Scudder, 1893) and P. ibis (Wickham, 1912): the new species differs from P. culex in the larger eyes, longer pronotum, being 0.44× shorter than elytra, and slightly smaller body size; from P. ibis it differs in the smaller body size, rostrum shorter than elytra, and weakly convex pronotum. This is the first record of Pseudomesauletes from Baltic amber and the sixth species of Baltocar. Keys to species of the genus Baltocar and to the Eocene species of the genus Pseudomesauletes are given.
