Spectroscopy of Ionic Crystals: The Hydrogenated Calcium Fluoride System

This paper reviews the spectroscopy of ionic crystals, taking the system of hydrogenated calcium fluoride crystals containing trivalent rare earth ions as a specific example to illustrate the kinds of information that can be obtained by spectroscopic means.
