The reaction of sodium 1,2-dicyanoethenedithiolate [( mnt )Na2] with (NH4)2 [TcBr6] in ethanol yields crystals of (AsPh4)2 [ Tc ( mnt )3] (1) after precipitation with AsPh4Cl. The crystal structure of (1) has been determined by X-ray diffraction. Crystals are orthorhombic, space group Pbcn , a 20.256(1), b 15.513(1), c 18.274(1)Ǻ, Z 4. Refinement on 2910 diffractometer data measured with Cu Kα radiation converged at R 0.056. The structure consists of [ Tc ( mnt )3]2- anions and (AsPh4)+ cations . The technetium(IV) atom is coordinated to six sulfur atoms to give a distorted octahedron.

Abstractβ-Y(BO2)3 was synthesized in a Walker-type multianvil module at 5.9 GPa/1000°C. The crystal structure has been elucidated through single-crystal X-ray diffraction. β-Y(BO2)3 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pnma (no. 62) with the lattice parameters a=15.886(2), b=7.3860(6), and c=12.2119(9) Å. Its crystal structure will be discussed in the context of the isotypic lanthanide borates β-Ln(BO2)3 (Ln=Nd, Sm, Gd–Lu).

The crystal structure of [MePh3P]2TiCl6 was determined from X-ray diffraction data and refined to a residual index of R = 0.065. It crystallizes in the space group P2i/n with two formula units per unit cell; the cell dimensions are a - 921, b = 1314, c = 1648 pm and y - 100.87°. The TiCl62- ion occupies an inversion center and has the shape of a slightly distorted octahedron with Ti-Cl distances between 233 and 235 pm.

Abstract The crystal structure of the known title compound was determined by low-temperature X-ray diffraction (orthorhombic, space group Pbcn, Z = 4). The molecule displays an unusually short O-N bond, a relatively long C-O bond and a moderately pyramidal O-NS2 skeleton (O-N 133.1, C-O 148.5 pm, sum of bond angles at N: 347.4°).

Abstract Dodecatungstosilicates free of crystal water were prepared for the first time by using tetraalkylammonium as cation. The crystal structure of the tetramethylammonium a-dodeeatungstosilicate [N(CH3)4]4SiW12O40 (1) and tetrabutylammonium) β-dodecatungstosilicate, [N(C4H9)4]4SiWi2040 (2) were solved by X-ray diffraction. (1) crystallizes tetragonal in the space group 14̅ with lattice parameters a = 14.642 Å; c= 12.706 Å; (2) orthorhombic, space group P212121 with a = 29.277 Å, b = 22.181 Å and c = 15.381 Å. The differences between the two isomeric heteropolyanions are discussed, especially the distances and angles between the tungsten atoms. Comparison of characteristic differences in the vibrational spectra permits the identification of the isomeric anions.

Abstract The crystal structure of calcium azide dihydrate trans-bicyclo-[4.4.0]-1,4,6.9-tetraazadecane has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction at 100 K. [Ca(N3)2(H2O)2 (C6H14N4 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pnma, Z = 4. with a - 1396.6(5), b = 1407.1(5), c = 712.2(2) pm. Calcium is hexacoordinated to four azide groups and two water molecules. The elongated octahedra are linked via μ(1,3)-bridging azide ions to form monolayers parallel to the ac-plane. The C6H14N4 molecules are arranged between these layers.

The crystal structure of [(η4-C8H12)PdBr2] has been determined by a single crystal X-ray diffraction with R = 3.82% for 2 147 independent diffractions. The compound crystallizes with the symmetry of orthorhombic space group P212121 (No. 19) within the following parameters: a = 7.0785(5) Å, b = 11.1896(9) Å, c = 12.514(1) Å, V = 991.2(1) Å3, Z = 4. The square planar arrangement of ligands around Pd(II) is distorted due to the steric requirements of 1,5-cyclooctadiene in a twisted boat conformation. Formula units are joined by the weak C2-H2...Br1(1 + x, y, z) hydrogen bonds.
