Representative derivatives of the [5,4-e] and [4,5-e] oxazolo-1,2,4-triazine ring systems were prepared by cyclodehydration of the respective 5-acylaminotriazin-6-ones and 6-acylaminotriazin-5-ones. 5-Methylthio-3-phenyltriazin-6-amine also gave a 6-anilino derivative of the [5,4-e] series when treated with phenyl isocyanate, but the method was not a successful route to the [4,5-e] series.

In the quest for discovery of novel bioactive molecules, new heterocyclic ring systems provide templates for exploration of uncharted chemical space. Herein, we describe the synthesis of a new benzo[4,5]imidazo[1,2-b][1,2,4,6]thiatriazine derivative from readily available 1,2-diaminobenzimidazole and N,N-diethyl-N′-chlorosulfonyl chloroformamidine. The product structure, confirmed by X-ray crystallography, bears an exocyclic NH2 group, which should enable synthesis of an extended range of derivatives of this unusual scaffold.

.Some representative derivatives of the new thiazolo [4,5- e]-1,2,4-triazine ring system were prepared from 5-acylamino-1,2,4-triazin-6(1 H)-ones by heating with phosphorus pentasulfide in pyridine. Further derivatives of the biheterocyclo system were also made from 6-methylthio-1,2,4-triazin-5-amines by heating with carbon disulfide or phenyl isothiocyanate.

The effects of chlorine atoms on the fundamental frequencies of the s-triazine ring are discussed and the vibrational assignments in the region 1600–700 cm−1 are extended. The variation in the position of the C3N3-ring bending mode in the region near 810 cm−1 is discussed.

In pursuing our investigation out the antimony analogues of certain nitrogen ring-systems, we Lave now succeeded in obtaining derivatives of dilhydrostibacridines, of when some of the corresponding arsenic compounds have been studied recently by Gump and Stolzenburg. The starting material for the work was o -aminodiphenylmethane obtained from the corresponding nitro derivative when, in turn, was prepared from o -nitrobenzyl chloride and benzene by Taneseseu's modification of the Friedel-Crafts reaction.

The c.d. spectra are reported for a series of benzylidene derivatives of glycerol and mannitol containing 1,3-dioxolan, 1,3-dioxan and 1,3- dioxepan ring systems. The signs of the Cotton effects of 1Lb and 1La transitions of the phenyl chromophore have been rationalized in terms of recently proposed sector rules for these transitions.
