From reactions of bis(polyfluorophenyl)ytterbium compounds R2Yb (R = C6Fs or p-HC6F4) with trans-Rh(CO)Cl(PPh3)2, NiCl2(bpy) (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridyl), NiCl2(PPh3)2, PtCl2(bpy)2 triphenyltin chloride, iodine and mercuric chloride, the polyfluorophenyl derivatives trans-RRh(CO)(PPh3)2, R2Ni(bpy), trans-(C6F5)2Ni(PPh3)2, (C6F5)2,Pt(bpy), Ph3SnC6Fs, C6F5I and (C6FS)2,Hg have been obtained. Reduction to mercury metal accompanied formation of the last compound. Carbonation of (C6F5)2Yb in tetrahydrofuran followed by acidification yields pentafluorobenzoic acid and, surprisingly, a significant amount of 2,3,4,5-tetrafluorobenzoic acid, in which the aromatic hydrogen is substantially derived from tetrahydrofuran. Reaction of (C6F5)2Yb with pentafluorobenzoic acid followed by acidification also gives 2,3,4,5-tetrafluorobenzoic acid. Fluoride elimination is less extensive and less specific in a similar reaction of YbI2.

Background: The clozapine-derivative quetiapine has been shown in some cases to cause leukopenia and neutropenia. Case Presentation: We reported on a case of a young female diagnosed with treatment-resistant schizophrenia. After failed trials of three antipsychotic medications and despite a history of quetiapineinduced leukopenia, clozapine treatment was introduced due to the severity of the patient’s symptoms, the limited effective treatment options, and a lack of guidelines on this issue. Result: Over a ten-week period of clozapine treatment at 700 mg per day, the patient developed agranulocytosis. Her white blood cell count sharply dropped to 1.6 × 109 L, and her neutrophils decreased to 0.1 × 109 L. There had been no similar reaction to her previous medications (carbamazepine, risperidone, and haloperidol). Conclusion: The safety of clozapine in a patient who has previously experienced leukopenia and neutropenia with quetiapine requires further investigation. Increased attention should be paid to such cases. Careful monitoring and slow titration are advisable.

Three new thorium-based MOFs based on 1,2,4,5-tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)benzene (H4TCPB) were obtained under a similar reaction system (metal salt, ligand, solvent, and acid are the same).

AbstractAlthough chirality is an ever-present characteristic in biology and some artificial molecules, controlling the chirality and demystifying the chirality origin of complex assemblies remain challenging. Herein, we report two homochiral Ag14 nanoclusters with inherent chirality originated from identical rotation of six square faces on a Ag8 cube driven by intra-cluster π···π stacking interaction between pntp− (Hpntp = p-nitrothiophenol) ligands. The spontaneous resolution of the racemic (SD/rac-Ag14a) to homochiral nanoclusters (SD/L-Ag14 and SD/R-Ag14) can be realized by re-crystallizing SD/rac-Ag14a in acetonitrile, which promotes the homochiral crystallization in solid state by forming C–H···O/N hydrogen bonds with nitro oxygen atoms in pntp− or aromatic hydrogen atoms in dpph (dpph = 1,6-bis(diphenylphosphino)hexane) on Ag14 nanocluster. This work not only provides strategic guidance for the syntheses of chiral silver nanoclusters in an all-achiral environment, but also deciphers the origin of chirality at molecular level by identifying the special effects of intra- and inter-cluster supramolecular interactions.
