The metal-metal interaction in binuclear Bis(cyclopentadienyl)titanium(III) halides
Keyword(s):
Measurements of the temperature dependence (80-380 K) of the magnetic susceptibility of polycrystalline bis(η-cyclopentadienyl)titanium(III) halides [(η-Cp)2- TiX2Ti(η-Cp)2] with X = F, Cl, Br, and I are reported. Characteristic singlet-triplet behaviour is observed with the strength of the Ti-Ti d1-d1 interaction increasing in the sequence F < Cl ≈ I < Br. The position of I ≈ Cl is unexpected and structural data will be required to resolve this anomaly.
