The trace diffusion of iodide ion in aqueous calcium and cadmium perchlorate solutions has been followed in diaphragm cells using the radio tracer method. The trace diffusion coefficients in the cadmium perchlorate solutions have been used to calculate the limiting mobility of the CdI+ ion.

AbstractAggregation numbers were calculated based on measurements of the self-diffusion coefficients, the effective hydrodynamic radii of micelles and aggregates of oxyethylated alkylphenols in aqueous solutions. On the assumption that the radii of spherical micelles are equal to the lengths of fully extended neonol molecules, the limiting values of aggregation numbers corresponding to spherically shaped neonol micelles were calculated. The concentration and temperature ranges under which spherical micelles of neonols are formed were determined.

Copper of different purity levels (4N, 5N) produced by High Pressure Torsion (HPT) with varying processing parameters is investigated utilizing the radiotracer technique. While the degree of deformation is constant, the effect of the applied quasi-hydrostatic pressure and of the impurity concentration on the as deformed samples is analysed. By applying the radio tracer method micro structural aspects are revealed that are not easily accessible by conventional methods. The measurements indicate the formation of a percolating porosity during the HPT process as a function of the applied pressure and (although less pronounced) of the impurity concentration.
