A close study of the genus Papuzilla Ridley in conjunction with a revision of the genus Lepidium L. in Australia has revealed that these taxa are synonymous. Three species are recognized for New Guinea?two requiring new combinations, L. minutiflorum (Ridley) Hewson, L. laeteviride (P. Royen) Hewson?and one new species, L. maccowagei Hewson. The inflorescence is analysed.

AbstractAn account of thelotremoid species ofGraphidaceaein India is provided, which includes 124 species in 24 genera.OcellulariaandThelotremaare the most diverse genera represented by 34 and 18 species, respectively. Type specimens were re-examined and additional samples studied morphologically and chemically. One new species,Ocellularia upretiiS. Joshi, Divakar, Lumbsch & Lücking, is described; it is characterized by a greyish green thallus, porinoid ascomata, brown proper exciple, simple, carbonized columella, clear hymenium, transversely septate, amyloid ascospores of 110–125×15–20 µm and an absence of secondary metabolites.Asteristion australianum,Astrochapsa mirabilis,Cruentotrema cruentatum,C. kurandense,Ocellularia violaceaandThelotrema adjectumare reported as new to the country, andAstrochapsa mirabilis,Melanotrema submicrosporoides,Ocellularia annuloelevata,O. subkeralensisandRhabdodiscus verrucoisidiatusare proposed as new combinations.Diploschistes awasthii,Ocellularia gupeti,O. leucina, O. mahabalei,Thelotrema confertumandT. verrucorugosumare synonymized underD. scruposus,O. neomasonhalei,O. urceolaris,O. thelotremoides,Chapsa leprocarpoidesandT. rugatulum, respectively, withOcellularia canarianaandO. verrucomarginatareduced to synonymy withO. allosporoides.

The taxonomy and distribution of Pacific Annonaceae are reviewed in light of recent changes in generic delimitations. A new species of the genus Monoon from the Solomon Archipelago is described, Monoon salomonicum I.M.Turner & Utteridge sp. nov., together with an apparently related new species from New Guinea, Monoon pachypetalum I.M.Turner & Utteridge sp. nov. The confirmed presence of the genus in the Solomon Islands extends the generic range eastward beyond New Guinea. Two new species of Huberantha are described, Huberantha asymmetrica I.M.Turner & Utteridge sp. nov. and Huberantha whistleri I.M.Turner & Utteridge sp. nov., from the Solomon Islands and Samoa respectively. New combinations are proposed: Drepananthus novoguineensis (Baker f.) I.M.Turner & Utteridge comb. nov., Meiogyne punctulata (Baill.) I.M.Turner & Utteridge comb. nov. and Monoon merrillii (Kaneh.) I.M.Turner & Utteridge comb. nov. One neotype and four lectotypes are designated. The geographic patterns exhibited by nine native Annonaceae genera, that range in the Pacific beyond New Guinea, are discussed.

We present an annotated and illustrated catalogue of fifty type specimens of Afrotropical Tortricidae deposited in the insect collection of the Royal Museum for Central Africa. In addition to primary types, paratypes and/or paralectotypes are described and illustrated when available. Also, syntypes of the treated species deposited in other museums are listed and discussed. The taxonomic position of each species is reviewed. Three genera are described as new: Cornips Razowski, Nepheloploce Razowski, and Recaraceria Razowski. One new species, Cornips gravidspinatus Razowki, is described from the type series of Tortrix dryocausta Meyrick. Three new genera and 11 new species from New Guinea are described in the tribe Monophlebulini. Erropera, gen, nov., contains four new species: E. ablusa, E. papuensis, E, pilosa and E. sedlaceki; Modicicoccus, gen. nov., contains four new species: M. gagnei, M. kaindiensis, M. monticolus and M. rtewsteadi; and Peengea, gen. nov., contains one new species: P. affinis. Two new species of Mottophlehirlus Cockerell, M. enarotalicus and M. gressitti, are described. The adult females of all 11 new species and the first instar nymphs of E. sedlaceki and P. affinis are described. A marsupium associated with the genital opening of the adult female is reported for the first time in the tribe Monophlebulini.

The genera Hoplopisthius and Carcinopisthius are reviewed. All the species are redescribed and illustrated and an updated identification key and distributional maps are provided. One new species from New Guinea is described (Hoplopisthius maximus n. sp.) and two new synonymies are proposed: Hoplopisthius celebensis Kolbe, 1892 = H. trichemerus Senna, 1892, n. syn. and Carcinopisthius lamingtoni Damoiseau, 1987 = C. forcipitiger Damoiseau, 1987, n. syn. Phylogenetic analysis using PAUP (maximum parsimony) was performed using 25 morphological characters of adults. This analysis shows the group Hoplopisthius + Carcinopisthius is monophyletic, but Carcinopisthius alone is paraphyletic. Nomenclatural changes at the generic level are made to reconcile nomenclature and phylogeny: Hoplopisthius is preserved; Carcinopisthius is downgraded to the rank of subgenus for the two oriental species H. oberthueri and H. fruhstorferi; and Pseudotaphroderes is resurrected as a third subgenus and includes all New-Guinean and Australian species.

The genera Boonea Robertson, 1978, Chrysallida Carpenter, 1856, Fargoa Bartsch, 1909, Ivara Dall & Bartsch, 1903, Mumiola A. Adams, 1863, Odostomella Bucquoy, Dautzenberg & Dollfus, 1883, Parthenina Bucquoy, Dautzenberg & Dollfus, 1883 and Trabecula Dall & Bartsch, 1909 from Brazil are reviewed. Boonea jadisi (Olsson & McGinty, 1958), Boonea seminuda (C. B. Adams, 1839), Chrysallida gemmulosa C. B. Adams, 1850, Ivara terryi (Olsson & McGinty, 1958), Fargoa bushiana Bartsch, 1909, Mumiola gradatula (Mörch, 1876) and Odostomella carceralis Pimenta, Absalão & Alencar, 2000 are confirmed to occur in Brazil. We also present the first records of Parthenina varia (Odé, 1993), Odostomella fonteini (Jong & Coomans, 1988) and Trabecula krumpermanni (Jong & Coomans, 1988) from the region, all, new combinations. Two species, previously reported from the Brazilian coast, could not be confirmed: Boonea bisuturalis (Say, 1822) and Boonea impressa (Say, 1822). Odostomella cf. doliolum (Philippi, 1844) and Parthenina cf. interspatiosa (Linden & Eikenboom, 1992), originally described from the eastern Atlantic, are here recorded from Brazil, although their status remains dubious because of lack of information on their biology and due to lack of morphological and molecular data. One new species is described: Boonea scymnocelata, which can be distinguished from the similar species B. seminuda by its smaller size and immersed protoconch, with no visible nucleus.

In this study, the clearwing moths (Sesiidae) of Australia, New Guinea and the Pacific Islands are reviewed. A total of 58 species belonging to 18 genera are recognized as native to this region. AbstractGenus-group taxon Rhombodineutus Ochs, 1926 is related to Paracyclous Ochs (Indonesia) and Callistodineutus Ochs (Melanesia), classified under Dineutus MacLeay. It occurs in New Guinea and New Britain Island, inhabiting streams and rivers primarily at low and medium altitudes where the species may occur abundantly. Most species live in the forests and have a fairly restricted range, while D. pectoralis Régimbart has passed a niche shift and adapted to exposed and exploited land and spread widely, splitting into a considerable number of races, some of which were found at an elevation of 1500-2000 m. The morphological characters are reviewed and their differentiation examined as a background for the classification of the taxon and a revision of its species which have been placed in three groups, containing 8 species and 11 subspecies. One new species and four new subspecies are described. Keys are provided to the various groups of taxa.
