In this paper, the absorption spectra of a two-electron V-type atom with parallel spins are investigated. The atom is driven by a pump field and a probe field. We focus our attention on the influence of the Coulomb interaction of the two electrons on the absorption spectra of the atom. It is shown that the absorption profile displays a two-peak structure when the intensity of the pump field is much lower than that of the Coulomb interaction. When the two intensity values are comparable, the profile contains five peaks, one central and two pairs of sidebands. In addition, the system exhibits lasing without inversion for just the appropriate intensity of the pump field.
