The nonrenormalizable first order derivative nonlinear spinor field equation with scalar interaction possesses two equivalent Hamiltonians. The first is the conventional one while the second is a two-field Hamiltonian with the original field and its parity transform. By quantization the latter leads to an inequivalent representation compared with the former. This is connected with parity symmetry breaking and the loss of simultaneous diagonalization of energy and subfield particle numbers. The corresponding grand canonical Hamiltonian is shown to result equivalently from a renormalizable second order derivative nonlinear spinor field equation. This is achieved by means of a theorem about the decomposition of higher order derivative nonlinear spinor field equations derived previously

In this paper, we consider the Dirac-Gursey spinor field equation that has particle-like solutions derived classical field equations so-called instantons, formed by using Heisenberg ansatz, under the effect of an additional Gaussian white noise term. Our purpose is to understand how the behavior of spinor-type excited instantons in four dimensions can be affected by noise. Thus, we simulate the phase portraits and Poincaré sections of the obtained system numerically both with and without noise. Recurrence plots are also given for more detailed information regarding the system.

AbstractWe propose a phase-field theory for enriched continua. To generalize classical phase-field models, we derive the phase-field gradient theory based on balances of microforces, microtorques, and mass. We focus on materials where second gradients of the phase field describe long-range interactions. By considering a nontrivial interaction inside the body, described by a boundary-edge microtraction, we characterize the existence of a hypermicrotraction field, a central aspect of this theory. On surfaces, we define the surface microtraction and the surface-couple microtraction emerging from internal surface interactions. We explicitly account for the lack of smoothness along a curve on surfaces enclosing arbitrary parts of the domain. In these rough areas, internal-edge microtractions appear. We begin our theory by characterizing these tractions. Next, in balancing microforces and microtorques, we arrive at the field equations. Subject to thermodynamic constraints, we develop a general set of constitutive relations for a phase-field model where its free-energy density depends on second gradients of the phase field. A priori, the balance equations are general and independent of constitutive equations, where the thermodynamics constrain the constitutive relations through the free-energy imbalance. To exemplify the usefulness of our theory, we generalize two commonly used phase-field equations. We propose a ‘generalized Swift–Hohenberg equation’—a second-grade phase-field equation—and its conserved version, the ‘generalized phase-field crystal equation’—a conserved second-grade phase-field equation. Furthermore, we derive the configurational fields arising in this theory. We conclude with the presentation of a comprehensive, thermodynamically consistent set of boundary conditions.

Conformally covariant equations for free spinor fields are determined uniquely by carrying out a descent to Minkowski space from the most general first-order rotationally covariant spinor equations in a six-dimensional flat space. It is found that the introduction of the concept of the "conformally invariant mass" is not possible for spinor fields even if the fields are defined not only on the null hyperquadric but over the entire manifold of coordinates in six-dimensional space.

AbstractWe study the Einstein-aether theory in Weyl integrable geometry. The scalar field which defines the Weyl affine connection is introduced in the gravitational field equation. We end up with an Einstein-aether scalar field model where the interaction between the scalar field and the aether field has a geometric origin. The scalar field plays a significant role in the evolution of the gravitational field equations. We focus our study on the case of homogeneous and isotropic background spacetimes and study their dynamical evolution for various cosmological models.

This chapter presents the physical motivation for general relativity, derives the Einstein field equation and gives concise derivations of the main results of the theory. It begins with the equivalence principle, tidal forces in Newtonian gravity and their connection to curved spacetime geometry. This leads to a derivation of the field equation. Tests of general relativity are considered: Mercury’s perihelion advance, gravitational redshift, the deflection of starlight and gravitational lenses. The exterior and interior Schwarzschild solutions are discussed. Eddington–Finkelstein coordinates are used to describe objects falling into non-rotating black holes. The Kerr metric is used to describe rotating black holes and their astrophysical consequences. Gravitational waves are described and used to explain the orbital decay of binary neutron stars. Their recent detection by LIGO and the beginning of a new era of gravitational wave astronomy is discussed. Finally, the gravitational field equations are derived from the Einstein–Hilbert action.

Abstract In the framework of Lorentz invariant theories of gravitation the fieldtheoretic approach of the generally covariant Jordan-Brans-Dicke-theory is investigated.It is shown that a slight restriction of the gauge group of Einstein's linear tensor theory leads to the linearized Jordan-Brans-Dicke-theory. The problem of the inconsistency of the field equations and the equations of motion is solved by introducing the Landau-Lifschitz energy momentum tensor of the gravitational field as an additional source term into the field equations. The second order of the theory together with the corresponding gauge group are calculated explicitly. By means of the structure of the gauge group of the tensor field it is possible to identify the successive orders of the scalar-tensor theory as an expansion of the Jordan-Brans-Dicke-theory in flat space-time. The question of the uniqueness of the procedure is answered by showing that the structure of the gauge group of the tensor field is predetermined by the linear equations of motion. The mathematical proof of this fact confirms formally the meaning of the equations of motion for the geometry of space.

This requires the study of blowing-up sequences of solutions. We provide a series of tools in particular which can be used (and extended) to higher-order mean field equations of nonlocal type.

We consider the nonminimally kinetic coupled version of DGP brane model, where the kinetic term of the scalar field is coupled to the metric and Einstein tensor on the brane by a coupling constant [Formula: see text]. We obtain the corresponding field equations, using the Friedmann–Robertson–Walker metric and the perfect fluid, and study the inflationary scenario to confront the numerical analysis of six typical scalar field potentials with the current observational results. We find that among the suggested potentials and coupling constants, subject to the e-folding [Formula: see text], the potentials [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] provide the best fits with both Planck+WP+highL data and Planck+WP+highL+BICEP2 data.
