This paper reports an effective design method for optimizing the geometric parameters of a micronozzle. Numerical analysis is conducted to predict the propulsion performance of micronozzles. By means of design of experiment (DOE), the number of numerical experiments is reduced dramatically from 1024 to 16. The interaction effects of the geometric parameters are taken into consideration for the first time. The results indicate that the interaction effects of geometric parameters cannot be neglected in choosing the optimal parameters for a practical design.

Abstract The work presents a brief description of VFT-WIB® steel-concrete composite beams, examples of composite dowel shear connection shapes are presented. A steel-concrete bridge girder construction solution for the new shape of composite dowel shear connection was proposed. The geometric parameters of the steel section web cutting line are given. For the assumed cross-section dimensions, a numerical model of the girder was made. Numerical analysis was performed, the results of which were compared with the results of the analytical calculations. A program of actions aimed at further optimization of the model is presented.

RBC agglutination by lectins represents an interactive balance between the attractive (bridging) force due to lectin binding on cell surfaces and disaggregating forces, such as membrane stiffness and electrostatic charge repulsion (1). During agglutination, critical geometric parameters of cell contour and intercellular distance reflect the magnitude of these interactive forces and the size of the bridging macromolecule (2). Valid ultrastructural measurements of these geometric parameters from agglutinated RBC's require preservation with minimal cell distortion. As chemical fixation may adversely influence RBC geometric properties (3), we used chemical fixation and cryofixation (rapid freezing followed by freeze-substitution) as a comparative approach to examine these parameters from RBC agglutinated with Ulex I lectin.
