Abstract In this study; acid treated carbonized mandarin peel (CMP) adsorbent was prepared and the adsorption behaviour of the adsorbent for copper removal was investigated. In the adsorption studies the effects of initial metal concentration, solution pH, adsorbent dosage and contact time on the removal were investigated. As a result; the highest removal of 100% was achieved when the copper concentration in water was 5 mg/L and the adsorbent dosage was 3.75 g/L at a solution pH of 7. Isotherm studies were also done and the appropriate isotherm was obtained as the Freundlich isotherm. According to the kinetic studies, the copper adsorption onto CMP adsorbent was adopted to the pseudo-second-order adsorption kinetic. After HCl regeneration, the adsorbent maintained 94% of its activity.

This study aimed to investigation of Cd(II) ion removal from wastewater using chitosan-vanillin as sorbent I and chitosan-ortho-vanillin as sorbent II under various experimental conditions. The influence of pH, initial Cd(II) ion concentrations and isotherm studies, temperature and thermodynamic studies, adsorbent mass, adsorption time and kinetic studies on the sorption process have been studied using different experiments. The residual ion quantity is estimated through atomic absorption spectrometry. The maximum Cd(II) ion removal is obtained at pH 6 with highest uptake of ions after agitation for 2 hours. Langmuir isotherm model represented the most suitable for the experimental data and the maximum adsorbing capacity was 20.704 mg g-1 and 51.020 mg g-1 for sorbents I and II, respectively. Results of this study suggest that chemisorption is a step of rate-determining and the thermodynamic studies revealed that the nature of uptake sorption process is endothermic and spontaneous.

Peat waters were abundant in the West Tanjung Jabung Regency of Jambi Province. Peat water contains manganese metal ion concentration that exceeds the clean water quality standard. Previous studies have been conducted to reduce levels of manganese in peat water, but the results have not been significant. This study aims to reduce levels of Manganese metal in peat water using the composition of Bentonite and Biochar. The adsorption process was carried out at room temperature (29 °C) with a stirring of 200 rpm. Some parameters measured were optimum pH of adsorption, optimum contact time and the best combination between Bentonite and Biochar. Manganese ion concentration in solution was measured using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). The results of this study indicate that the optimum conditions for removing manganese ion at pH 5 and contact time 40 minutes. Tests on artificial solutions using 0.2 grams of biochar showed Mn ion removal of 42.91% (C0 = 100 mg/L, Ce = 57.09 mg/L, V = 100 mL). The best combination obtained in Bentonite: Biochar (1:2) with a mass of 0.080 gr and 0.170 gr, respectively, which able to remove 91.29% manganese ions in peat water.

AbstractIn this paper, results of adsorption kinetic studies of Pd(II) chloride complex ions on activated carbon Organosrob 10 CO are presented. Spectorphotometrical method was applied to investigate the process. Kinetic model was proposed, and fundamental thermodynamic parameters were determined. Proposed kinetic model describes well observed phenomenon in the studied range of concentration of Pd(II) chloride complex ions as well, as concentration of activated carbon.
