A capillary pulsed-discharge and a theta-pinch were used to record Kr spectra in the region of 330–4800 Å. A set of 168 transitions of these spectra were classified for the first time. We extended the analysis to twenty-five new energy levels belonging to 3s23p24d, 3s23p25d even configurations. We calculated weighted transition probabilities (gA) for all of the experimentally observed lines and lifetimes for new energy levels using a relativistic Hartree–Fock method, including core-polarization effects.

AbstractWe introduce numerical algorithms for solving the inverse and direct scattering problems for the Manakov model of vector nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We have found an algebraic group of 4-block matrices with off-diagonal blocks consisting of special vector-like matrices for generalizing the scalar problem’s efficient numerical algorithms to the vector case. The inversion of block matrices of the discretized system of Gelfand–Levitan–Marchenko integral equations solves the inverse scattering problem using the vector variant the Toeplitz Inner Bordering algorithm of Levinson’s type. The reversal of steps of the inverse problem algorithm gives the solution of the direct scattering problem. Numerical tests confirm the proposed vector algorithms’ efficiency and stability. We also present an example of the algorithms’ application to simulate the Manakov vector solitons’ collision.

Optical chirality, in terms of circular birefringence and circular dichroism, is described by its electromagnetic and magnetoelectric material tensors, and the corresponding optical activity contributes to the Mueller matrix. Here, spectroscopic ellipsometry in the spectral range 210–1690 nm is used to address chiral phenomena by measuring Mueller matrices in transmission. Three approaches to determine chirality parameters are discussed. In the first approach, applicable in the absence of linear polarization effects, circular birefringence and circular dichroism are evaluated directly from elements of a Mueller matrix. In the second method, differential decomposition is employed, which allows for the unique separation of chirality parameters from linear anisotropic parameters as well as from depolarization provided that the sample is homogeneous along the optical path. Finally, electromagnetic modeling using the Tellegen constitutive relations is presented. The last method also allows structural effects to be included. The three methods to quantify optical chirality are demonstrated for selected materials, including sugar solutions, α-quartz, liquid crystals, beetle cuticle, and films of cellulose nanocrystals.
