Synthesized Materials

A new perovskite based titano-manganite (La0.5-xPrxBa0.5)(Mn0.5Ti0.5)O3 at x concentration 0, 0.01, 0.03, 0.05, 0.07 and 0.09 has been successfully prepared by ceramic solid-state technique at sintering temperature of 1300 °C. Dielectric electrical properties of the synthesized materials at frequency ranging from 5 Hz to 1 MHz and magnetic properties have been studied at room temperature. Analyses have been carried out to determine the structural, magnetic and dielectric properties of the synthesized material as a candidate of multiferroic material.

Abstract This paper describes the composition-dependent microstructural, magnetic and dielectric properties of vanadium ions doped nickel ferrite nanoparticles. All the nanoferrite samples (NiV x Fe 2-x O 4 : x = 0.00, 0.05, 0.10 and 0.15) were prepared using conventional co-precipitation method. X-ray diffraction patterns verified the single cubic spinel phase formation and achievement of nano-sized ferrite particles with a homogeneous distribution, which was also supported by HRTEM micrographs. Mean crystallite diameter was seen in the range of 05 nm to 12 nm as evaluated from Williamson-Hall (W-H) curves for the different doped samples. A compressive nature microstrain was noticed in all the samples and was also seen to reduce with the enhancement of vanadium ions content. A blue shift was detected in the indirect band gap for higher vanadium doped samples. Magnetization at the saturation point as well as coercive field both were observed to reduce at room temperature with increasing vanadium concentration in nanosized nickel ferrites. Room temperature dielectric characteristics of all the synthesized samples ensured that the elementary charge conduction process was governed by the hopping of electrons. Cole-Cole plots also showed that the grain boundaries play an important task in deciding the dielectric responses.

Polycrystalline Bi1-xSmxFeO3 multiferroic samples in the range 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.1 were prepared via solid state reaction method. The effect of samarium ion (Sm3+) doping at the bismuth site in multiferroic BiFeO3 structure and its relation with magnetic and dielectric properties were investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) and Impedance Analyzer were used to characterize the structure and the properties of the composition. The XRD results showed that all the compounds are rhombohedral distorted perovskite structure (R3C). The average grain size identified by SEM were 2.61 µm and decreased to 1.18 µm by introducing the element of Sm doping. At room temperature, all samples showed a spontaneous magnetization which was enhanced by doping with Sm3+ ion. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss decreased inversely proportional to the frequency from 102 to 106 Hz.

Influence of Ca substitution on structural, magnetic and dielectric properties of Ba3Co2-xCaxFe24O41(where x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0), prepared by Sol-Gel auto-combustion method, has been investigated in present studies. The obtained powder was sintered at 950 oC for 4 hrs. in the static air atmosphere. Structural analysis of Ca-doped Ba3Co2-xCaxFe24O41powders revealed pure Z-type hexaferrite phase at low temperature. The frequency dependent dielectric constant (Єʹ) and magnetic properties such as remanent magnetization (Mr), saturation magnetization (Ms) and coercivity (Hc) were studied. It is observed that coercivity increased gradually with increase in calcium content. The real dielectric constant (Єʹ) and dielectric loss tangent (tan δ) were studied in the frequency range of 20Hz to 2MHz.
