Ciujung River is one of the important rivers in Banten Province and it is the main water supply for agriculture, industry and bathing. Due to extensive agricultural, urban, and industrial activities in the watershed of this ecosystem, some studies have assumed that the river is contaminated. But, there is no research related Ciujung River water quality with biological indicator and maping pollutant sources. The aim of this study is analyze : water quality of Ciujung River and influence of activities in Ciujung watershed to the water pollution in Ciujung River. Calculation Pollution Index (PI) and calculation chlorophyll-a abundance are adopted for water quality assessments. Water quality were analysed based on secondary data from BBWS C3 in January-May 2020. Chlorophyll-a abundance measured by Sentinel-2 imagery, water quality assessments result of each section presented in spasial data with GIS. Water quality map overlayed with land use map to indentify the influence of activities in Ciujung watershed to water pollution in Ciujung River. PI calculation results show that Ciujung River is moderately polluted, PI calculation result of each section is >5. Meanwhile, the abundance of chlorophyll-a can describe level of pollution in Ciujung River from biological parameters, the highest chlorophyll-a abundance is in Pamarayan (38,6) and the lowest chlorophyll-a abundance is in Jembatan Keong (18,6).

The distribution and composition of zooplankton assemblages was investigated along the Apulian marine–coastal area (Mediterranean Sea) in the time period between January 2008 and February 2010. Zooplankton samples were collected monthly from 15 monitoring stations located in two sub-basins, namely, the southern Adriatic (11 stations) and the northern Ionian (4 stations). Results indicated a strong influence of river runoffs on zooplankton assemblages in terms of an increase in the abundance of tolerant species and a reduction of overall richness and diversity of species. Compared with the Ionian, in the Adriatic stations, zooplankton standing stocks showed higher abundances. Results also suggest that the zooplankton can be considered a useful biological indicator of water quality for the Apulian coastal waters and could be used in environmental monitoring programs.

Biological indicators are the best indicators of water quality, since they are interpretive of a variety of Stressors. Analysis of scientific literature shows that substance flows are calculated using different methods. One of the goals of this work is to investigate various methods for calculating biological indicator flows and to compare differences among them. For the four biological substance calculation methods which were studied, an essential difference among them was the period during which the volume of run‐off was calculated, that largely influences the size of flows. Upon Lithuania's entry into the European Union, the Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC) is the principle document defining priorities in the establishment and management of water quality. It foresees optimizing the number of water samplings per year. Therefore, another goal of this work is to identify possibilities for reducing water sampling frequency. The variation coefficient, as a statistical parameter showing fluctuations in the concentration of biogenic substances over the course of time, was selected for the analysis. Possibilities for reducing water sampling frequency for establishing the concentration of mineral nitrogen and phosphates in river surface waters were determined according to the obtained results.
