This book is essentially a selection of the articles written by Arther T. Mosher during his long career as a rural development expert. Also appended at the end is a complete list of writings by him. The Agricultural Development Council has chosen to publish this book to honour the author, who was its President during 1967-1973, The publication of this book is welcome in the context of the recent rediscovery of rural development as a principal plank of need-oriented develop¬ment strategies. A basic defect of writing on rural development has been excessive resort to stereotype rehtoric, over-enthusiasm and a certain pedanticism. Fortunately, Mosher's orientation is practical, not doctrinaire. Although the book is titled "Thinking About Rural Development", the author keeps on bring¬ing together the thinking and practice into their validly interactive perspectives. Not surprisingly so, for the author has himself worked in the field as a rural development practitioner for a considerable length of time.

Species composition of diatoms from different waterbodies and watercourses Privolzhskaya Hills (Penza Region, Russian Plain, Russia) is studied. The complete list of revealed species of centric and pinnate diatoms (299 taxa) and a brief taxonomic analysis are given. The name Sellaphora bacilloides is validated.

While some letters from Merovingian-era Gaul are well known—for example, Remigius’s letters to Clovis or Radegund’s letters founding her monastery—the scale and scope of extant and attested letters tell us more about the period than the sum of data from individual documents. The cumulative range of known epistolary communications indicates that Merovingian Gaul, like the late Roman Empire of the previous centuries, hosted multiple, entangled networks of social and political interconnections. This chapter considers how we can set about contemplating both the limitations and value of the evidence we have. Comparison with contemporary Egypt, from which letters are preserved both in manuscript tradition (as with Gaul) and as papyri originals, evokes the possibility of envisaging Merovingian Gaul quite differently from our received image. The extant evidence for letters is surveyed, including “literary” collections of letters, letters preserved in other types of texts, and the extensive number of descriptions of letter exchange in narrative texts. The chapter includes the first checklist of more than 500 extant letters and a list of narrative sources, including the first complete list of references to letters in the works of Gregory of Tours.

Abstract We investigate qualitative properties of the underlying scheme of Rapoport–Zink formal moduli spaces of p-divisible groups (resp., shtukas). We single out those cases where the dimension of this underlying scheme is zero (resp., those where the dimension is the maximal possible). The model case for the first alternative is the Lubin–Tate moduli space, and the model case for the second alternative is the Drinfeld moduli space. We exhibit a complete list in both cases.

Abstract Orthomodular posets form an algebraic formalization of the logic of quantum mechanics. A central question is how to introduce implication in such a logic. We give a positive answer whenever the orthomodular poset in question is of finite height. The crucial advantage of our solution is that the corresponding algebra, called implication orthomodular poset, i.e. a poset equipped with a binary operator of implication, corresponds to the original orthomodular poset and that its implication operator is everywhere defined. We present here a complete list of axioms for implication orthomodular posets. This enables us to derive an axiomatization in Gentzen style for the algebraizable logic of orthomodular posets of finite height.

AbstractDespite the fact that Eri Jabotinsky (1910–1969) published only few (i.e. fourteen) mathematical papers, some of them had a remarkable influence in iteration theory. But also his life was remakable. Eri was the son of the famous Zionist Revisionist leader Vladimir Ze’ev Jabotinsky. Eri Jabotinsky was active in the Zionist movement and later as parlamentarian in the Knesset. Here we give an outline of his live and a complete list of his publications.

Weighted grids are linearly independent sets {gw : w ∈ W} of signed tripotents in Jordan* triples indexed by figures W in real vector spaces such that {gugvgw} ∈ ℂgu-v+w (= 0 if u - v + w ∉ W). They arise naturally as systems of weight vectors of certain abelian families of Jordan* derivations. Based on Neher's grid theory, a classification of association free non-nil weighted grids is given. As a first step beyond the setting of classical grids, the complete list of complex weighted grids of pairwise associated signed tripotents indexed by ℤ2 is established.
