Many extensions to the Standard Model imply the existence of new charged scalar Higgs bosons. We study the contribution of a general scalar or pseudoscalar coupling for the neutrino–electron scattering. We take a phenomenological approach in order to obtain model independent limits to the couplings that arise in this picture. We illustrate the reach of the constraints by studying the particular case of the type III two Higgs doublet model, where we have found new constraints to some elements of the Yukawa couplings mixing matrix (|Yee| ≤ 1 × 10-1 and |Yeμ| ≤ 7 × 10-2 at 90% CL).

The two-Higgs doublet model is a simple and attractive extension of the Standard Model. It provides a possibility to explain the large deviation between theory and experiment in the muon g – 2 in an interesting parameter region: light pseudoscalar Higgs A, large Yukawa coupling to τ-leptons, and general, non-type II Yukawa couplings are preferred. This parameter region is explored, experimental limits on the relevant Yukawa couplings are obtained, and the maximum possible contributions to the muon g – 2 are discussed.

Abstract We investigate a two Higgs doublet model with extra flavour depending U(1)X gauge symmetry where Z′ boson interactions can explain the Atomki anomaly by choosing appropriate charge assignment for the SM fermions. For parameter region explaining the Atomki anomaly we obtain light scalar boson with $$ \mathcal{O} $$ O (10) GeV mass, and we explore scalar sector to search for allowed parameter space. We then discuss anomalous magnetic dipole moment of muon and lepton flavour violating processes induced by Yukawa couplings of our model.

Unitarity constraints for Yukawa couplings are considered in the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model type III, by using a general expansion in partial waves for fermionic scattering processes. Constraints over general Flavor Changing Neutral Currents are found from that systematic, wherein such bounds compete with those coming from Lagrangian perturbativity requirement but are weaker than those imposed from phenomenological processes and precision tests. Nevertheless, for bounds based on unitarity, the number of assumptions is the lowest among phenomenological and theoretical limits. Indeed, these new theoretical constraints are independent of scalar masses or mixing angles for this extended Higgs sector, making them less model dependent.

AbstractWe discuss the $$Z_2$$ Z 2 symmetric two-Higgs-doublet model with a real soft-breaking term (real 2HDM). We explain in detail why it is not tenable to assume CP conservation in the scalar sector to keep the dimension two term real, while CP is violated by the dimension four Yukawa couplings. We propose the calculation of the infinite tadpole of the (would-be) pseudoscalar neutral scalar. We construct a simple toy model with the same flaws, where the unrenormalizable infinity is easier to calculate. We then consider the same tadpole in the real 2HDM. We spearhead this effort focusing on diagrams involving solely bare quantities. This involves hundreds of Feynman three-loop diagrams that could feed the CP violation from the quark into the scalar sector, and is only possible with state of the art automatic computation tools. Remarkably, some intermediate results agree when using three independent derivations, including the peculiar cancellation of the leading pole divergence due to a subtle interplay between masses and the Jarlskog invariant, which we calculate analytically. The calculation is not complete however, since the full two-loop renormalization of the real 2HDM is not yet available in the literature. Still, we argue convincingly that there is an irremovable infinity.
