This paper presents a new 3-RRRR parallel manipulator. In the proposed mechanism, the revolute actuators are fixed to the base, which leads to a reduction of the inertia of the moving links and hence makes it attractive, particularly when high-speed motions are required and electric actuation is considered. This manipulator can be used in robotic applications involving the positioning and orientation of a rigid body in the space with high-speed, accuracy and high stiffness or as a simulator or others high-precision or high-speed devices. After introducing the mechanism, inverse kinematics analysis is presented. By the virtue of complexity of analytic solution, an algorithm is utilized which can numerically find possible of solutions and choose the one with applicable configuration. Then the workspace of manipulator is obtained by means of proposed numerical solution.

The reaction 20 O ( d , t ) has been studied in inverse kinematics using a secondary radioactive beam produced with the SPIRAL facility at GANIL. Fragments, light charged particles and gamma rays were measured with the TIARA, MUST2, VAMOS and EXOGAM detectors and preliminary results are reported. The level scheme of 19 O is built and the spin and parity of one state is tentatively assigned using the one-neutron transfer angular distribution.

Projectile Coulomb excitation experiments were performed at HIE-ISOLDE at CERN with the radioactive ion beams of 140Nd and 142Sm. Ions with an energy of 4:62 MeV/A were impinging on a 1.45 mg/cm2 thick 208Pb target. The γ-rays depopulating the Coulomb-excited states were recorded by the HPGe-array MINIBALL and scattered particles were detected by a double-sided silicon strip detector. Experimental intensities were used for the determination of electromagnetic transition matrix elements. A preliminary result of the B(M1; 2+3 → 2+1) of 140Nd and an upper limit for the case of 142Sm are revealing the main fragments of the proton-neutron mixed-symmetry 2+1;ms states.

The N = 84 nuclei 142Ce and 144Nd have been Coulomb-excited using 4He, 12C and 160 projectiles. Scattered particles were detected at a mean laboratory angle of 170.6 with an annular silicon surface-barrier detector. The static quadrupole moment f the 2t state was determined for both nuclei. In addition, various electromagnetic transition probabilities involving the 2~, 2~, 1 and 4t states were measured. Taken in conjunction with previous information, the results show that the properties of 142Ce nd 144Nd are well described by the vibrational U(S) limit of IBM-2, and strongly support the proposition that the 2~ level in each nucleus is an essentially pure one d-boson mixed-symmetry state.
