The results of works aimed at increasing the level of uniformity of measurements of the magnetic induction of a constant field – the basic value in the field of magnetic measurements. A set of equipment for reproducing a unit of magnetic induction of a constant field in the range of 1–25 mT was created and described. The inclusion of this complex in the State primary standard of units of magnetic induction, magnetic flux, magnetic moment and magnetic induction gradient GET 12-2011 will ensure the reproduction and direct transmission of the unit of permanent magnetic induction in the ranges of not only weak (10–3–1 mT), but medium (1–25 mT) and strong (0.025–1 T) magnetic fields. A quantum cesium magnetometer based on the resolved structure of cesium atoms was created to transmit the unit of magnetic induction to the region of medium fields. The procedure for calculating the frequency conversion coefficients to magnetic induction of the created quantum cesium magnetometer is described. The uncertainty budget for reproducing a unit of magnetic induction of a constant field using the created complex is estimated.

During the last years of Emperor Trajan’s reign, the Legio IV Scythica was stationed in the capital of Armenia at that time, Artaxata. It had made its way there within the scope of the Roman campaign against the Parthians. Its presence was immortalised on stamped rooftiles, bricks and a monumental inscription discovered by the southern border of the present-day village of Pokr Vedi. The inscription carved into limestone confirms the building activities of the Roman army. Similar inscriptions were frequently placed on the gates and most important buildings in legionary camps. Polish and Armenian archaeologists undertook a joint search for the supposed camp of the Fourth Scythian Legion in the vicinity of the present-day village of Pokr Vedi, where the above-mentioned construction inscription had been found. The field surveys conducted within the framework of the Pokr Vedi Project were mainly of a non-invasive character. The following were applied: surface prospection, aerial photography, interviews with the inhabitants, scanning of part of the terrain and geophysical measurements done using two methods: electrical resistivity and magnetic measurements. The accumulated data enabled the selection of sites in which survey trenches were located

The survey added about 70 000 line kilometres of high-quality magnetic measurements to the existing database of modern airborne geophysical data from Greenland. This database includes both regional high-resolution aeromagnetic surveys and detailed surveys with combined electromagnetic and magnetic airborne measurements.

Objective: The influence of Manganese (Mn2+) and Cobalt (Co2+) ions doping on the optical and magnetic properties of ZnO nanoparticles was studied. Methods: Nanoparticle samples of type ZnO, Zn0.97Mn0.03O, Zn0.96Mn0.03Co0.01O, Zn0.95Mn0.03 Co0.02O, Zn0.93Mn0.03Co0.04O, and Zn0.91Mn0.03Co0.06O were synthesized using the wet chemical coprecipitation method. Results: X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) patterns revealed that the prepared samples exhibited a single phase of hexagonal wurtzite structure without any existence of secondary phases. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) images clarified that Co doping at high concentrations has the ability to alter the morphologies of the samples from spherical shaped nanoparticles (NPS) to nanorods (NRs) shaped particles. The different vibrational modes of the prepared samples were analyzed through Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) measurements. The optical characteristics and structural defects of the samples were studied through Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. PL results clarified that Mn2+ and Co2+ doping quenched the recombination of electron-hole pairs and enhanced the number of point defects relative to the undoped ZnO sample. Magnetic measurements were carried out at room temperature using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). (Mn, Co) co-doped ZnO samples exhibited a ferromagnetic behavior coupled with paramagnetic and weak diamagnetic contributions. Conclusion: Mn2+ and Co2+ doping enhanced the room temperature Ferromagnetic (RTFM) behavior of ZnO. In addition, the signature for antiferromagnetic ordering between the Co ions was revealed. Moreover, a strong correlation between the magnetic and optical behavior of the (Mn, Co) co-doped ZnO was analyzed.

The synthesis of the following mixed ligand complexes is reported: [Ni(phdtc)2(dpm)2], [Ni(phdtc)2(dpe)2], [Ni(phdtc)2(dpp)3], [Ni(1-naphdtc)2(dpm)2], [Ni(1-naphdtc)2], and [Ni(1-naphdtc)2(dpp)2], where phdtc = PhNHCSS-, 1-naphdtc = 1-NaPhNHCSS-, dpm = Ph2PCH2PPh2, dpe = Ph2P(CH2)2PPh2, and dpp = Ph2P(CH2)3PPh2. The complexes are characterised by microanalysis, IR and UV-Vis spectra, magnetic measurements, conductivity, X-ray powder diffraction, and thermal analysis. All the mixed ligand complexes are diamagnetic, and thus a square-planar or square-pyramidal (low-spin) structure was proposed for the present complexes.

ABSTRACTWe have used Magnetic Force Microscopy (MFM) to study the magnetic domain structures of melt-spun Nd-Fe-B ribbons. The ribbons are commercial products (Magnequench International, Inc. MQP-B and MQP-B+) with a thickness of approximately 20 microns. These materials have identical composition, Nd12.18B5.36Fe76.99Co5.46, but differ in quenching conditions. In order to study the distribution of domain sizes through the ribbon thickness, we have prepared cross-sectional samples in epoxy mounts. In order to avoid artifacts due to tip-sample interactions, we have used high coercivity CoPt coated MFM tips. Our studies show domain sizes typically ranging from 50-200 nm in diameter. This is in agreement with studies of similar materials in which domains were investigated in the plane of the ribbon. We also find that these products differ substantially in mean domain size and in the uniformity of the domain sizes as measured across the ribbon. While the B+ material shows nearly uniform domain sizes throughout the cross section, the B material shows considerably larger domains on one surface, followed by a region in which the domains are smaller than average. This structure is presumably due to the differing quench conditions. The region of coarse domains varies in thickness, disappearing in some areas, and reaching a maximum thickness of 2.75 µm in others. We also describe bulk magnetic measurements, and suggest that.
