Synthesis of Cobalt-Erbium nano-ferrites with formulation CoErxFe2-xO4 (x = 0, 0.005, 0.010, 0.015, 0.020, 0.025, and 0.030) using technique of citrate-gel auto-combustion was done. Characterization of prepared powders was done using XRD, EDAX, FESEM, TEM, AFM, and FTIR spectroscopy, VSM: magnetic properties, respectively. XRD Rietveld Analysis, SEM, TEM, and EDAX analysis studied spectral, structural, and magnetic properties. XRD pattern of CEF nanoparticles confirms single-phase cubic spinal structure. The structural variables are given by lattice constant (a), lattice volume (v), the average crystallite size (D) and X-ray density (dx), bulk density (d), porosity (p), percentage of pore space (P%), surface area (s), strain(ε), dislocation density (δ), along with ionic radii, bond length and hoping length were calculated. SEM and TEM results reveal the homogeneous nature of particles accompanied by clusters having no impurity pickup. TEM analysis gives information about the particle size of nanocrystalline ferrite, while EDAX analysis confirms elemental composition. The emergence of two arch-shaped frequency bands (ν_1 and〖 ν〗_2) that represent vibrations at the tetrahedral site (A) and octahedral site(B) was indicated by spectra of FTIR. The XRD Rietveld analysis confirms crystallite size lying between 20.84 nm-14.40 nm, while SEM analysis indicates the formation of agglomerates and TEM analysis indicates particle size ranging between 24nm-16 nm. The magnetization measurements indicated that increasing Er3+ content in cobalt ferrites decreases magnetization from 60emu/g to 42emu/g while coercivity decreases (18990) as compared to CoFe2O4 (18998) in cobalt ferrites with doping. The present study investigates the effect of different compositions of Er3+ replaced for Fe on structural and magnetic properties of cobalt ferrites.

Background: As an intelligent material, Magnetorheological Elastomer (MRE) has attracted extensive attention due to their excellent magnetic-induced properties. Aim: In addition to the matrix and interface, magnetic particle is the most critical factor in the magnetic properties of MRE. Particle size does not only affect on the magnetic properties of MRE, but also affects on interface and particle distribution. Therefore, studying the influence of particle size on viscoelastic properties is of great significance for the MRE. Methods: In this paper, several kinds of MREs containing Carbonyl Iron Particles (CIPs) with different sizes were prepared and characterized. The influences of frequency, strain and magnetic field on viscoelastic properties of these MRE samples have been discussed comprehensively. Results: The result shows that the particle size has a great impact on the performance of MRE, which indicates that the MRE performance can be improved by optimizing the particle size selection. In addition, possible physical mechanisms have been proposed to explain the effect of particles on MRE performance. Conclusion: This work can provide guidance for the performance improvement of MREs.

Abstract Structural and magnetic properties of Fe oxide nanoparticles prepared by laser pyrolysis and annealed in high pressure hydrogen atmosphere were investigated. The annealing treatments were performed at 200 °C (sample A200C) and 300 °C (sample A300C). The as prepared sample, A, consists of nanoparticles with ~ 4 nm mean particle size and contains C (~ 11 at.%), Fe and O. The Fe/O ratio is between γ-Fe2O3 and Fe3O4 stoichiometric ratios. A change in the oxidation state, crystallinity and particle size is evidenced for the nanoparticles in sample A200C. The Fe oxide nanoparticles are completely reduced in sample A300C to α-Fe single phase. The blocking temperature increases from 106 K in A to 110 K in A200C and above room temperature in A300C, where strong inter-particle interactions are evidenced. Magnetic parameters, of interest for applications, have been considerably varied by the specific hydrogenation treatments, in direct connection to the induced specific changes of particle size, crystallinity and phase composition. For the A and A200C samples, a field cooling dependent unidirectional anisotropy was observed especially at low temperatures, supporting the presence of nanoparticles with core–shell-like structures. Surprisingly high MS values, almost 50% higher than for bulk metallic Fe, were evidenced in sample A300C.
