Protein dynamics are integral to protein function. In recent years, the use of computer simulation to understand the molecular motions of proteins has become widespread. However, there are few such studies which compare the dynamics of proteins that are structurally and functionally related. In this study, we present native-state molecular dynamic simulations of four proteins which possess a ubiquitin-like fold. Three of these proteins are thought to have evolved from a common ancestral ubiquitin-like protein and have similarities in their function. A fourth protein, which is structurally homologous but which appears to have a different function, is also studied. Local fluctuations in the native state simulations are analysed, and conserved motions of the C-α backbone atoms are identified in residues which are important for function. In addition, the global dynamics of the proteins are analysed using the essential-dynamics method. This analysis reveals a slightly higher degree of conservation in dynamics for the three proteins which are functionally related. Both the global and local analyses illustrate how nature has optimized and conserved protein motions for specific biological activity within the ubiquitin family.

The happening global and local fluctuations of climate caused the changes in manifestation of the temperature stresses in the plants in terms of their strength and time of occurrence in vegetation period. The most regions of the south of Russia (especially in the plain territories) experienced warming of climate, and the temperature stresses began to appear more frequently in spring and in summer. With an aim to analyze the direction of change in temperature regime the structure and spectrums of variability in the mean-diurnal fluctuations of the maximum and minimum temperatures of air were studied for a long period (1950-2019) in the Kuban river horticulture zone of Krasnodar Territory. The defense and adaptive reactions of the sweet cherry varieties (in their drought resistance) to the change in external environment limits were brought to light. The yielding capacity of the genotypes of plants was studied from position of their response to the temperature stresses. The obtained results permitted to identify the varieties of sweet cherry, resistant to the stresses of the spring and summer period, when they are grown in conditions of the higher temperatures and considerable moisture deficit. The results of work will be helpful in control of the sweet cherry varieties productivity on the basis of knowledge on manifestation of the varieties’ genetic peculiarities in their phenotype in the new climatic conditions.

In this paper, we use Bekenstein entropy and study thermodynamic quantities and phase transition for the charged BTZ black hole. Then, we apply the Sharma–Mittal (SM) entropy and calculate some thermodynamic quantities. Here, we note that in case of [Formula: see text], the SM entropy is same as the known corrected entropy. Also, we investigate [Formula: see text] critically and phase transition of this corrected black hole and show that the critical points of corrected black hole are similar to Van der Waals fluid. We compare phase transition of corrected and uncorrected entropies to each other. Finally, we study the effect of SM entropy on the global and local stability in the extended phase space. Here, we also compare the obtained results of corrected entropy with respect to uncorrected entropy.

“Dynamical mixing”, i.e. relaxation of a stellar phase space distribution through interaction with the mean gravitational field, is numerically investigated for a one-dimensional self-gravitating stellar gas. Qualitative results are presented in the form of a motion picture of the flow of phase points (representing homogeneous slabs of stars) in two-dimensional phase space.
