This study aims to develop an analog compression tester measuring instrument into a digital compression tester as a measurement tool that can provide effectiveness and efficiency to users.                     This research is a research and development or R&D. This research was conducted in several steps, namely: problem identification, information gathering, product design, product manufacture, expert validation, product revision, testing, final production. The development of analog compression tester was first validated by material experts, media experts, and 15 students, and 5 students for field trials. The subjects of this study were vocational students at Taman Karya Madya Teknik Kebumen. Data collection techniques used in this study using instruments in the form of a questionnaire. The data analysis technique of this research is descriptive qualitative and quantitative descriptive percentage.                 The results of the development of digital compression tester designs are: 1) the tools and materials used are electric drill, grinding, cutter, goggles, gloves, masks, ruler, acetaminine welding, screwdriver, scissors, digital dial pressure gauge, hose, spark plugs, clamps , and nepel, 2) the manufacturing process that starts from the cutting process, the hole drilling process, the welding process and the process of connecting between components, 3) the workings of digital compression tester design that is reading the pressure or compression of the machine displayed on the monitor digitally using dial pressure digital gauge, 4) the test results obtained from the validation results from: a) material experts at 89% or Eligible; b) media experts at 85% or reasonable; c) response of field trial students in terms of ease of use and reading of 90% or feasible. Thus, the conclusion that the digital compression tester measuring instrument declared feasible to use for measurement.

Based on the generalized Perkins-Kern-Nordgren model (PKN) for the development of a hyperbolic type vertical hydraulic fracture, an exact solution is obtained for the hydraulic fracture self-oscillations after terminating the fracturing fluid injection. These oscillations are excited by a rarefaction wave that occurs after the injection is stopped. The obtained solution was used to estimate the height, width and half-length of the hydraulic fracture at the time of stopping the hydraulic fracturing fluid injection based on the bottomhole pressure gauge data.

Abstract The non-destructive wave propagation technique is used to estimate the wood’s modulus of elasticity. The propagation speed of ultrasonic waves is influenced by some factors, among them: the type of transducer used in the test, the form of coupling and the sensitivity of the transducers. The objective of the study was to evaluate the influence of the contact pressure of the transducers on the ultrasonic speed. Ninety-eight tests were carried out on specimens of the species Eucalyptus grandis, with dimensions of 120 × 120 × 50 mm. The calibration of the pressure exerted by the transducer was controlled by a pressure gauge using a previously calibrated load cell. The robust statistical analysis allowed to validate the experimental results and to obtain consistent conclusions. The results showed that the wave propagation speed is not influenced by the pressure exerted by the transducer.

The British Pressure Gauge Manufacturers Association has always emphasised the need for strict observance of recognised safety requirements when using pressure gauges. Unfortunately, gauges are both available and used that do not meet the rigid safety regulations laid down in British Standard 1780 and this could lead to serious accidents. AbstractThe radiofrequency-induced intestine fusion has been widely studied as an alternative for traditional suture in surgery, but fusion quality cannot be evaluated directly. Impedance measurement can evaluate fusion quality, but the relation between impedance and the fusion quality needs optimization for best results. The present study reports the optimum resistance of small intestine fusion. As the feedback signal, resistance was considered the indicator of the fusion completion for the device design of intestine fusion and an in-depth study of microstructure change. A self-design pulse source was used for the small intestine fusion with adjustable voltage, duty ratio, frequency and output time. A frequency of 440 kHz was set, whereas voltage, output time and compression pressure (CP) of the small intestine were independent variables. Different conditions of voltage, CP and time were investigated for achieving the highest burst pressure (BP) measured with a pressure gauge and a peristaltic pump. Each parameter of the equivalent circuit model was calculated by an experimental waveform. Hematoxylin–eosin staining of fusion samples was used for assessing the quality of fusion. The real-time current was measured and recorded during the fusion for the calculation of capacitance and resistance. The highest BP of 38.9 mmHg was achieved with a CP of 900 kPa, a voltage of 50 V and a time of 5 s. Finally, an optimum extracellular resistance range of 61.0–86.2 Ω was found as the optimum resistance for the end of fusion, thus indicating automatic fusion with the best fusion quality.

An experimental study has been made of the gaseous drag torque on an isolated sphere rotating at high Mach numbers. The sphere was suspended electromagnetically and spun by induction. The drag torque has been measured through the transition régime from continuum to free molecule flow at Mach numbers (based on equatorial speed) of up to about five. These high Mach numbers were achieved in heavy vapours (diiodomethane, germanium tetrabromide and stannic bromide) with sonic speed as little as a quarter of that in air. To measure the pressure in the vapour a second (smaller) rotating sphere was used as a pressure gauge. The results agree well with those previously obtained and show an unexpected Mach number dependence in the transition régime.
