To meet the needs of test for compound oscillatory roller transmission (CORT) reducer, A comprehensive test system for precision transmission performance was designed, the test-bed structure and control principal of which were introduced. First, a transmission performance test method was proposed and focused on the transmission performance of velocity ratio, accuracy, and efficiency. Then, user interface based on LabVIEW program was designed, and the transmission performance of torque, angle, velocity, velocity ratio, return difference, efficiency could be displayed. Finally, measurement example on an E80 type CORT reducer has been made, and shows that the proposed test system is suitable for test for these reducers of high-precision drive, high stiffness, high load characteristics.

Performance test-bed of heat pump unit in central air-conditioner needs the intelligent and multifunctional software. So the monitoring software is designed with a good human-machine interactive interface, based on Visual C# development platform. The software can dynamically configure channels and measurement points to improve the defects of fixed channels for all measuring points in the traditional monitoring systems, which enhanced the flexibility and reliability of system. In order to increase the data accuracy, the improved digital filter algorithm was adopted. In addition, multi-threading mechanism was used to achieve serial communication and data processing, which meets the requirements of monitoring program for multi-tasking and real-time. The results show that monitoring software is powerful, easy to operate, reliable, high fault-tolerant and good user-friendly. It is suitable for using in other monitoring systems.

This paper deals with the development of a wind turbine pitch control system and the construction of a Hardware-in-the-Loop-Simulation (HILS) testbed for the performance test of the pitch control system. When the wind speed exceeds the rated wind speed, the wind turbine pitch controller adjusts the blade pitch angles collectively to ensure that the rotor speed maintains the rated rotor speed. The pitch controller with the individual pitch control function can add individual pitch angles into the collective pitch angles to reduce the mechanical load applied to the blade periodically due to wind shear. Large wind turbines often experience mechanical loads caused by wind shear phenomena. To verify the performance of the pitch control system before applying it to an actual wind turbine, the pitch control system is tested on the HILS testbed, which acts like an actual wind turbine system. The testbed for evaluating the developed pitch control system consists of the pitch control system, a real-time unit for simulating the wind and the operations of the wind turbine, an operational computer with a human–machine interface, a load system for simulating the actual wind load applied to each blade, and a real pitch bearing. Through the several tests based on HILS test bed, how well the pitch controller performed the given roles for each area in the entire wind speed area from cut-in to cut-out wind speed can be shown.

This paper describes the development of a generic framework for implementing realistic cross-platform haptic virtual reality applications. Currently, freely available Software Development Kits (SDKs) deal with a single Haptic Interaction Point (HIP), i.e. the tip of the haptic probe. However, many applications as path planning, virtual assembly, medical or dental simulations, as well as scientific exploration require object-object interactions, meaning any part of the complex 3D object attached to the probe collides with the other objects in the virtual scene. Collision detections and penetration depths between 3D objects must be quickly computed to generate forces to be displayed by the haptic device. In these circumstances, implementation of haptic applications is very challenging when the numbers, stiffness and/or complexity of objects in the scene are considerable, mainly because of high update rates needed to avoid instabilities of the system. The proposed framework meets this high requirement and provides a high-performance test bed for further research in algorithms for collision detection and generation of haptic forces.

In order to research on the effect of composition ratio on drying quality of the plant bowl-seeding tray, the drying test was done in superheated steam drying test-bed, the regression model was established by performance test data, and the best composition ratio was obtained from optimization results, the best composition ratio is 21:7:1:4, at this condition the dry strength value was 0.2112MPa, the wet strength value was 0.2178Mpa. The research results has important meaning to enhance the drying quality of the rice seedling-growing tray made of paddy-straw and to promote planting techniques of bowl sterile.

The FLASHForward experimental facility is a high-performance test-bed for precision plasma wakefield research, aiming to accelerate high-quality electron beams to GeV-levels in a few centimetres of ionized gas. The plasma is created by ionizing gas in a gas cell either by a high-voltage discharge or a high-intensity laser pulse. The electrons to be accelerated will either be injected internally from the plasma background or externally from the FLASH superconducting RF front end. In both cases, the wakefield will be driven by electron beams provided by the FLASH gun and linac modules operating with a 10 Hz macro-pulse structure, generating 1.25 GeV, 1 nC electron bunches at up to 3 MHz micro-pulse repetition rates. At full capacity, this FLASH bunch-train structure corresponds to 30 kW of average power, orders of magnitude higher than drivers available to other state-of-the-art LWFA and PWFA experiments. This high-power functionality means FLASHForward is the only plasma wakefield facility in the world with the immediate capability to develop, explore and benchmark high-average-power plasma wakefield research essential for next-generation facilities. The operational parameters and technical highlights of the experiment are discussed, as well as the scientific goals and high-average-power outlook. Today fuel additives had been used widely for the enhancement of fuel economy and engine performance. Fuel additives are substance that acts as catalysts for the completeness combustion of fuel in order to increase the heat released and hence the work output will be improved. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of the additives on fuel heating value and engine performance. In this study, three different additives available in the market have been chosen to determine the effect on heating value and engine performance when mixed with fuel. Two types of test were conducted, namely the calorific value and engine performance test. The first test was conducted using a bomb calorimeter with test method in accordance with the DIN 51900 and ASTM D240. The later test was done using engine test bed and with the agreement of BS 5514 (Parts 1 to 6), Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines: Performance, and SAE 1349 Standard Engine Power Test Code. The study shows that fuel additives can cause a standard fuel to have higher heating value up to 5%. As for the engine performance, the engine brake thermal efficiency and brake mean effective pressure were increased up to 8% and 10% respectively. The specific fuel consumption can be reduced up to 9%.

A new occupant restraint system test bed was designed based on the regulations on automotive seat test and safe-belt contact point strength test, which was capable of conducting seat rigid test, safe-belt contact point strength test, headrest performance test. The structure and parameters of the test bed were designed and FE model of the centre frame of the test bed was built with ANSYS to analyze the strength. Then the measuring and control system was developed based on LabVIEW. Finally, the static strength test of automotive seat and safe-belt contact point test were performed to evaluate the test device. The results demonstrated that this device met the test regulation requirements and could be used to conduct further investigation and vehicle design for occupant restraint system.
