Abstract The theory of stimulated Raman effect in biaxial and uniaxial crystals is presented on the basis of a parametric process. For the system consisting of Stokes wave and polariton wave a dispersion relation is derived which allows to predict the threshold value of the stimulated process and the gain factor for real crystals.
