Motivated by the success of kinetic theory in the description of observables in intermediate and high energy heavy-ion collisions, we use kinetic theory to model the dynamics of core collapse supernovae. The specific way that we employ kinetic theory to solve the relevant transport equations allows us to explicitly model the propagation of neutrinos and a full ensemble of nuclei and treat neutrino–matter interactions in a very general way. With these abilities, our simulations have observed dynamics that may prove to be an entirely new neutrino capture induced supernova explosion mechanism.

We propose a new hadronization mechanism, jet-fluid string (JFS) formation and decay, to understand observables in intermediate to high-pT regions comprehensively. In the JFS model, hard partons produced in jet lose their energy in traversing the QGP fluid, which is described by fully three-dimensional hydrodynamic simulations. When a jet parton escapes from the QGP fluid, it picks up a partner parton from a fluid and forms a color singlet string, then it decays to hadrons. We find that high-pTv2 values in JFS are about two times larger than in the independent fragmentation model.

We investigate the collective momentum anisotropy in relativistic heavy ion collisions in the BNL-RHIC energy regime with a three-dimensional hydrodynamical simulation code (SPHERIO) for different equations of state. We compare the widely used hadron gas-QGP bag model yielding a strong first order phase transition to other equations of state, which yield a smooth crossover as suggested by lattice QCD calculations.
