This paper describes an investigation into the use of optical fibre sensors in a tomographic measurement system designed to measure the flow of dry solids in gravity drop and pneumatic conveyors. A simple model of the system is provided and used to predict the response of individual sensors and the full system. Results are provided which show the model is acceptable.
