This paper deals with the analysis and simulation of the Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) for Grid connected DFIG wind farm system mitigation. The purpose of the paper is to derive and analyze a reactive power control strategy of UPFC dedicated for DFIG mitigation. The FACT device Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is connected with load bus. Paper has demonstrated the improvement in voltages, power transferred to grid, active and reactive power control. Matlab/simulink is used for the work. Paper demonstrated the simulation results for with and without UPFC for Grid connected Doubly Fed Induction Generator wind farm system.

For studied the rule of wind turbine output characteristic in condition of variable wind. The paper set up a wind model for a wind farm and a simulation model of 1.5MW wind turbine. Choose two control tactics which called voltage control and reactive power control to do the simulation and test. The result shows that took reactive power control at normal operation, the turbine get a well performance. If fault happened, choose voltage control was reasonable. So it provide reference for turbine operation.

This paper proposes a novel control method for enhancing transient stability by using renewable energy sources (RES). The kinetic energy accumulated in a rotor of variable speed wind generator (VSWG) is proactively used as the active power source, which is controlled according to the frequency measured at the wind farm. In addition, coordinated reactive power control according to the grid voltage is also carried out to more effectively use the kinetic energy of the VSWG. The effects of the proposed control system were evaluated by simulation analyses performed using a modified IEEE nine-bus power system network made up of synchronous generators (SGs), a photovoltaic (PV) system and a VSWG-based wind farm. Furthermore, the coordinated reactive power control between the VSWG and PV system was also demonstrated.
