A large amount of research has been published in Taiwan on the reduction of the urban temperature for different strategies. The most important strategy for reducing ambient temperature is increasing green space in city. For analyzing the effect of the vegetation on the thermal environment, this paper collects temperature data from one green roof and one normal roof which are belong to a same office building to analyze the thermal influence of vegetation. The result of this research shows that in summer the maximum cool effect of green roof was -1.60 oC and -0.26 oC in average. Therefore, it can also provide useful data to governments for calculating the environmental benefit if they carry out a green roof policy in mitigating heat island effect in the future.

Abstract The rainfall runoff reduction effect on green roofs was analyzed and tested by comparative rainfall runoff monitoring on impermeable roofs (sloping, plane). The evaluation index of rainfall runoff interception benefit (relative runoff reduction rate, rainfall control rate) on green roofs was studied. The results show that compared with sloping and level roofs, the change range of green roof runoff reduction rate relative to level and sloping roofs is 20.0–98.3% and 3.8–92.3%, and the mean value is 48.4% and 34.3% respectively. It is obvious that the green roof has better rainfall runoff reduction effect. It can be seen from the single rainfall control effect that the variation range of green roof rainfall runoff control rate is 36.0% to 99.0%, and the total rainfall control rate is 57.6%, which reflects that the green roof has the better rainfall control effect. Through comparative study, it can be concluded that the rainfall runoff control rate is more suitable for the design index of green roofs.

With the increasing public awareness of the human relations system with the surrounding environment, communities are beginning to shift towards better sources and methods to help improve the environment. One of the methods that began to be utilized is the application of green roof construction. There are many benefits for installing a green roof whether it is in a home or office building. The study was conducted on applicable green roof construction, the benefits of installing a green roof and a process run for a green roof installation with a construction approach applicable to urban housing buildings in Jakarta and on cost analysis on material requirements and installation. And in its efforts to reduce rainwater runoff. Green roof as one in the management of rainwater in urban areas. From the result of the research resulted the calculation on survey location percentage of runoff decrease 26%. While in the test object / mock-up there is a reduction of 95% runoff volume. It can be concluded that the use of a green roof / roof garden can reduce the runoff volume produced by rainwater, resulting in reduced surface runoff automatically reduced. This will also reduce the drainage-drainage burden of the city in accommodating water. The Roof Garden plays a role in the management of rainwater management to cope with puddles up to the danger of flooding

In this paper, we proposed a simulation methodology for evaluating the performance of CO2 Emission (CE) and Investment Value (IV) of Green Roof shape Integrated Photovoltaic System (GRIPV) of a Wooden Detached House using GA. CE and IV acting as evaluation indices were studied. It is an analytical comparative study of searching for efficient GRIPV by maximizing IV and minimizing CE simultaneously. Three typical locations in Japan are taken into account: Sapporo, Tokyo and Naha. We achieved optimal Pareto curve of each location.
